Hi everyone. I am new here. I am a 32 yr old female, married with

one son(7, 8 in March). I live in Fort Worth TX. I stumbled across

this message board looking for some kind of chronic pain support group

meetings in my area. I am having difficulty finding those so any

information on that would be greatly appreciated.

My Story: March 2006 I injured my back lifting a heavy object

incorectly. At the time of injury i was in severe acute pain and went

to the local urgent care facility and got some meds. Days later I

started noticing pain in my legs getting so severe i could hardly

walk. I went to my PCP and was told that it was just muscle spasms.

Went through several months of this before an MRI was ordered. I

herniated my l4/l5 and it was pressing right on the nerve. Long story

short, i have had 3 back surgeries, the last was a fusion at l5/s1 and

i am still in terrible pain. I have some pain in my back but the

majority of pain is in my back.

I just had another MRI to make sure there is no abnormalities but my

neurosurgeon is pretty sure from here on out this is going to be a

chronic pain management problem. I get those results next week. I

have tried all kinds of meds, from anti-seziure, to anti depressants,

to sleeping pills to plain old vicodin, which i have been on for

almost 2 years and is no longer effective. I have also done the trial

for a spinal cord stimulator wich did not work at all.

I think next we are looking into an intrathecal morphine pump. If

that does not work im not sure what we will do next. I am frightened

at the idea that i will have to live out my life this way. I am only

32 and before the injury i was a very active person.

Thanks for reading. Any comments, ideas, suggustions, whatever is

welcomed. If you want to respond by email that is cool. I dont get

to check the boards that often.

Thanks

Tabi
