Guest guest
Lyrica was not much fun for me either. I had pretty much the same results, itching, puking, and actually was told to take it by my doctor I have to find a new " Good " Dr in my area to treat my pain. <lyndi wrote: > I find it ironic that one of the side effects of Lyrica is joint and muscle pain. How would many on us know if we were getting it as a Lyrica side effect, or if our old bods were just being their usual stubborn selves. <grin>
Guest guest
I have degenerative joint disease in my back (osteoarthritis), low back near the tail bone....The pain can put me on the ground...So far Lyrica has not helped it..but it has made it so it doesn't hurt down my legs as much so I can sleep better.. I get no other meds for pain..The drs here are extremely paranoid about giving out pain meds..I haven't found one yet that will and I looked hard..sigh.. I would love just a little something to help me when the pain is so bad that my whole body throbs! I went off it for 2 days, I really didn't think the stuff was working..On the 2nd day I was in so much pain I thought I was going to die! So yesterday I started taking it again and I will stay on it..It has helped a lot of the muscle pain..I still have pain, a lot of it actually..but the lyrica takes some of it away, enough of it to make it so I can do a little more... I don't believe it helps joint and bone pain..At least what I know and have read about it. It may help, and I think it is worth a try because it might work for you..you have nothing to lose by trying it anyhow.... The only side effect I have had is a " high " feeling...and it will make me feel a bit sleepy..the high feeling I get off of it is only once in awhile. I don't know why, it's kinda weird actually... The side effect that can cause pain, my Dr said even people with chronic pain will know the difference because the pain is different and more severe. deep muscle pain all over... But most side effects go away with use. I hope that helps, and I hope the lyrica works for you..Just give it a few weeks..After 2 doses I did feel a difference.. Karla in WA -------Original Message------- I have heard sooo much about Lyrica. It sounds like a miracle drug. Is it ever used for herniated discs and arthritis in the spine? How would I approach my doctor about it? I am seeing a new doctor on March11 for a second opinion and having another total MRI of the spine tomorrow morning. My home town GP whom I pay out of pocket, he cuts me a big break, and is not in the " hated network " might prescribe it for me. I just want to know if it is used in my problem before I ask. Thanks, Cheryl V

The benefits outweigh the side effects for me.
Guest guest
Hi all I just started taking Lyrica, and since i had severe itching/stinging feeling all over my body before I started it, it was a great relief to me. I noticed on the first dose that I was not going wacky any more with the constant 24 hour a day of itching/stinging that I have from Dercums Disease. I am not sure what the suggested levels of this medicine are, but my doc gave me 75 mg at bed for 2 weeks, then we added 75 mg in the morning. I can also add a 3rd and even a 4th if it turns out after time that I need too. I am still just stunned by all the stories about struggling with getting pain relief medication if needed. My family doctor, who I go to instead of the pain doctor who just wanted to do the spinal injections all the time, is great and he gives me what I need. I did talk to him today about all the horror stories out there. He said a lot of people do misuse/abuse medications and thats why some doctors require counting pills and even urine testing. He had one patient who was getting percocet from him pretty often, and it was later learned that he was a long distance bus driver who got percocet from doctors in almost every city on his route. He didnt take them either, he was selling them all. The local DEA was informed and the man was taken away in handcuffs. I am so sorry you all have so much trouble. I do have a question tho. Doesnt being in chronic pain make you mental ? By mental i mean sensitive, hmm gosh not finding the right words. I had already been diagnosed with depression, but it seems like I go into highs and lows a lot easier. I talked with my doctor and he prescribed some xanax, which he said is a very fast acting agent for stress. Sometimes I get so stressed I think I am going to scream. My husband gets in these moods, and I have to walk on eggs, nothing I say or do is going to be right, and usually he is mad at me too. And the rest of the world. Anyone used xanax for this ? I am just nuts. The pain when I get up in the morning is so bad I don't want to move until the meds kick in. Then they make me sleepy so I dont want to move because I am sleepy. Then when I wake up I am hurting again. And so on. And so on. Where are those great shot like things they have on space operas on TV??? One shot to the arm and you are asleep. And they don't even use needles! Wouldnt that be great. Really I am surprised that the medical profession isnt further along, more like what they show on some of the movies. Ok enough rambling, blabbing, blathering. I am hurting pretty good tonite. All I did was go to the doctor and go to one store, then sit at dinner. I am exhausted. What if I had to work ? I was approved for disability and medicare because my knee is injured beyond what they can or will fix. So I get my disability check every month.
