I'm living the Des Moines (Iowa) Metro area. Working in the government sector in law enforcement. Was working as a puppy pusher (K9 officer) until last summer - retired the program - budget(?). Now patrol division.

Have only been off work the three weeks I was in the hospital and following surgery.

DX with UC in 1997, then this bout (PSC) this summer.

Wife also works in law enforcement in the metro area.

Have great Drs here in the metro area but referred to the specialist at the University (Iowa City).

I think things finally just came to a head this past weekend with everything and the probabilities for the future.

we both appreciate everyone's support and caring. We have a strong network in our families, friends and church. We both have found the support site a good resource.

There was an article in this past weekend in the Sunday Des Moines REgister that may be of interest to all dealing with medical expenses and insurance companies.

Thanks again for the uplifting support and resources.

Craig

Thanks for the warm welcome!!! It really has helped to find other people that have had experiences such as mine and also the concerns we have. I may not be able to get a consult privately with due to finances at present time, but will try to work on finding a way to squeeze it in somewhere. Yes, i have been on these type meds for a very long time and its been a long road trying to recover. Health supplements and trying to change diet have really helped, but due to finances it is hard to be able to buy and eat the proper foods also. I sometime depend on our churches food pantry to make it thru the month and we get a lot of packedged foods etc. without much protien(meat)....at least the proper protien. But slowly and surely, i will get there and this group has saved me from feeling so alone! Thanks again for warm welcome and God Bless!!

, also, plwase be aware that Sarafem has a very long half-life. You

shoould wait about a month after your first decrease in order to fully see

how this decrease is going to affect you.

Hi Cyrilla,

Sorry to hear that Fibromyalgia has made your life miserable. I had it

for around three years - 1000 days to be exact. I knew I was in trouble when I

didnt have enough energy or power to start my chain saw and could not even do

one push up. I fought it every day and finally beat it and got myself back to

normal. I got back to 20 push ups a day again. I still have chronic back pain

but that has nothing to do with the Fibromyalgia.

I know what you mean when you heat with wood and have to suffer to

keep the stove supplied with firewood and keep the old farm house up

and running.

Hope things will get better for you and this group is a good place to

be in your condition.

Hi Louise,

I really sympathize with you and your pain. I also suffer pain everyday of my

life and it still breaks my heart to read of all the people here at the CP group

who suffer constantly. My question is what are Birkenstocks and why can't you

wear them out? That is if they are a type of shoe. I'd feel silly saying that

if they are not a shoe. lol

Take care,

Carol (OK)
