I am re-joining the Crew after an absence of about 8

months. I have moved back to West Texas, and am

currently working as a math teacher/coach (football,

basketball, and track) in s, TX. I have also

started work towards my Master's Degree in Athletic

Administration.

My daughter, Reagan (2 and a half), will have NF2 as

well. We are taking her to the NF Clinic in Houston

on a regular basis. She has already had extensive

hearing tests done (no problems yet), and a

brain/spine MRI (no tumors yet).

She does have the cataracts which are associated with

NF2 (which is how they know she will have it). Her

vision in her right eye is pretty poor, but her left

eye is fine. We are scheduled to take her back this

summer.

I had my annual MRI last summer with Dr. Mickey in

Dallas. No tumors large enough to worry about now (I

do have some clusters, but they are all too small to

operate on as of now, although that can and probably

will change.)

Dr. Mickey did notice that my left leg was

considerably smaller than my right, which seems

obvious now that he pointed it out. I have also had

problems with drop foot, weak grip with my hands, a

tingling sensation in my left hand, and overall

weakness and limited feeling in my extremeties. He

referred my to a neurologist, who diagnosed me with

neuropathy. Many tests were run, and I do not have

anything that could be causing this, except NF2. My

left side is generally smaller than my right-

including my tongue. He said that NF2-related

neuropathy is very rare (so, of course, I had to have

it!), and he is checking for other known cases to

determine how it is going to progress.

If anyone else has NF2-related neuropathy, please

contact me!

My wife found some info. on neuropathy, and one cause

could be anesthesia (I guess if it is administered

wrong). I first noticed the tingling sensation

immediately after my second (left) AN removal. Maybe

that was it...

Otherwise- everything is pretty much the same! I am

glad to be re-joining the Crew. I have received more

valuable insights and information here than from most

of the doctors I have dealt with.

Glad to be back!
