Guest guest
Thanks Jim, for taking the time to research distillers......lots of info here and such varied prices....I will save this info and spends some time looking at all the information Again, thanks for all you do to help the members of this group bev Hi Beverly, Here is some solid info on buying a water distiller.... Keep in mind that distilled water is the purist water you can drink and the 10,000th gallon distilled is a pure as the first gallon.. First, keep this in mind, you only want to buy one that has a stainless steel boiling chamber, some are 1/2 stainless, I would not buy these, and you also want a POST filter... This is a filter that the already distilled water passes through before going into the collection jar.. A post filter is needed to catch anything that has made it through the distilling process... There are only a few distillers that do not need post filters, but they are higher priced.. When water is distilled, it is 95% pure, once it goes through the post filter, it is 98-99% pure and this is the purist water you can get.. It should have no taste other than water as that is all that is there! Here is a list of water distiller sold on eBay... What a difference an "S" makes... I searched under "water distillers" and pulled up only 19 units, a far cry from the many sold here in the past, then I did a search under "water distilleR" and pulled up a slew of them!! http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40 & _trksid=m570.l2736 & _nkw=water+distiller Here are a few that meet my criteria of a stainless steel boiling chamber and a post filter... ALWAYs double check with the seller to be sure it is all stainless and that it does have a post filter... Always be sure there is someone to contact preferably by phone or email.. Also, determine how much water you will consume daily, then be sure to buy a distiller that will produce enough... smaller ones seem to produce 1 gallon every 4 - 6 hours.. Mine by comparison will produce 1 gallon every 2 hours. Also best to buy one with a glass collector jug as they are superior to plastic.. And just be sure they are 110 - 120 Volt (standard US plug). A few are 230 - 240 Volt.. This appears to be a nice inexpensive model with good parts, a SS boiler and a post filter.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-H2oLabs-Stainless-Steel-Water-Distiller-w-Glass-Carafe-/221054737063?pt=Small_Kitchen_Appliances_US & hash=item3377e39aa7#ht_1540wt_1089 This one CLAIMS to have a SS boiler, POST filter and GLASS jug.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WATER-DISTILLER-Distillers-NEWST-MODEL-ON-MARKET-/160798892354?pt=Small_Kitchen_Appliances_US & hash=item25705c6142#ht_9700wt_1090 http://www.ebay.com/itm/MegaHome-Water-Distiller-Model-TWS-w-Glass-Bottle-2Y-Warr-/160649372609?pt=Small_Kitchen_Appliances_US & hash=item256772e3c1#ht_4404wt_1089 This one is more pricey, but I really like this model as it is all stainless steel.. I never recommended it before because it came with a plastic jug, now it comes with glass.. Plus as a bonus, 12 filters and a 15 year warranty.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-Classic-II-Counter-Top-Water-Distiller-NEW-w-Bonus-/160623386747?pt=Small_Kitchen_Appliances_US & hash=item2565e6607b#ht_761wt_1089 And if you really want to get the best water distiller, this is the one, BUT, this guy's customer service is poor... One group member bought the top machine, she had a problem within weeks, miner for the seller, major for the buyer, he refused to fix it... She contacted a few Gov't agencies, no help.. I then fired off an email to him telling him by not taking care of her I would no longer talk about his machines to my then 500 member group, she had the fixed machine in a about a week... Sometimes he just needs a little nudge.. However, before all of this happened, I had a problem with mine, called and talked to (owner) he told me to buy a few parts and it would be up in running in an hour.. I did buy the parts ($10) and I was up an running in an hour! He could have had me send it in, was out of warranty, but he didn't.. I've never had another issue. These truly are one of a kind machines and they also do kill pathogens because of the high oxygen content of the water.. http://www.johnellis.com/ This article in the Washington Post really brought a lot of attention to these machines... 10,000 people standing in line waiting to get this water!! http://www.johnellis.com/washingtonPost.php The machines, ideally you want the more expensive one because of Lyme.. http://www.johnellis.com/products.php?c=1 AND, occasionally these come up on eBay used and sometimes at good prices... Here is a top of the line machine (LMW-5 for a bid of $1159, less than half the new price.. And if this was used only for a year it is a great price, but no warranty.. If I needed another machine, I would bid on this at this price... I may go for $1600 - 1800, even that is a good price... These machines will almost last forever, with some miner maintenance. http://www.ebay.com/itm/JOHN-ELLIS-WATER-MACHINE-LWM-5-Used-/300742990247?pt=Small_Kitchen_Appliances_US & hash=item4605add9a7#ht_2601wt_1089 Here is a new LMW-5 machine with warranty, open bid is $2500, includes free shipping. this is a good price for a new machine. http://www.ebay.com/itm/JOHN-ELLIS-Electron-LWM-5-Living-Water-Machine-/221074490906?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0 & hash=item337911061a#ht_8810wt_1089 They also sell the water made from these machines for $29 for 1/2 gallon!! I don't think I would pay this much for WATER!, but it is a way to test it first.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GLASS-BOTTLES-1-2-Gallon--Ellis-LWM5-made-Electron-Energized-Distilled-Water-/170854662743?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0 & hash=item27c7bb4257#ht_1866wt_1089 -- Take care, Jim ******** Ri
