Being alone, well the rest are sleeping, hurting and wishing you could only be like some of the others. Over the years, I've learned to enjoy that time of night/morning. Everything is so still. I can't do anything noisy or I'll wake up the household, so I heat up some Therabead hot packs, take non drowsy pain meds, get a hot decaffeinated coffee or tea, find a cosy spot in the living room, and either read or quietly watch familiar DVDs. I keep several extra down filled pillows in the living room too. I like them because they mould to whatever position I am in. They're also great for keeping the hot packs in place. I keep a down filled throw on the couch and if I'm not having a sweat fit, I snuggle under it. When I get myself all cosy like that, I often fall back asleep until it's time to get ready for work. (I keep a wind up alarm clock in the living room, to make sure I wake up on time). When I wake up again, my pain level has usually dropped enough for me to pull myself together. (Unless it's a full body migraine -- then all bets on pain relief are off. :-) Because I work full time, I used to get my knickers in a twist because I knew I was going to be exhausted at the office. Now I know that the world isn't going to crash just because I am over tired. I often heat up some hot packs when I get home from work and then fall asleep on the couch for an hour. I figure that the rest of the world can wait one hour, while I get myself together a bit. If it can't, well that's not my problem. <grin> -- Lyndi
Guest guest
Hi I do hope your mornings will get easier. What I found helped is reading in bed or settee. A book doean't take much effort to reaed, as long as you can get comfy. I find it so much more relaxing than watching the TV through the night. I have seen me read a whole book through the night. Also been wakened with dropping the book on the floor! As well as this back/leg trouble I suffer from Chronic Pressure Urtcaria. When Hubby was alive I would clamber out of our bed and go into the spare room, where I put a single bed and just read. Not disturbing anyone. I have always been an avid reader and hubby used to tell me off for keeping him awake! But over the years he mellowed , or I trained him right. But it was easier to just get up and into the spare room. Back when I was working, I would wake up for work, and chant " don't think, don't think, just get to the bathtub full of hot water. " A hot shower, or hot bath, is a wonderful way to begin each morning. I don't work, now, but it's still the best way to begin each, and every day.
