I'm wondering if any of you have dry mouth? I was tested for Sjogrens Syndrome recently. My results came back on Friday and it's negative! Thank goodness for that. But now I wonder what's wrong. I have read that neurological damage can cause dry mouth so I'm wondering if anyone else here has it. Sharon Sharon (MSersLife creator/owner) Bloom where you are

I do also, but I think mine is from the bladder meds also. My Primary care physician also commented that Avonex could cause dry mouth. He commented on this because every time I see him, I have a bottle of water. I keep a bottle with me always, it's a very aggravating problem, isn't it?

Re: anyone have Dry Mouth?

Sharon,

I also have dry mouth. Mine is from all my meds, especially from my bladder meds.

I drink water all day and still can't quench my thirst. Mouth is always dry. What meds are you on? I am on Nuerontin and Rebif for MS along with a host of others for other things. Thanks, Jackie. I will look into it! The dry mouth isn't really such a pain. I just drink alot. But pottying all the time gets to be a pain!!! LOLJackie Hanan wrote: Tammy,…….sucking on hard candy is suppose to help with dry mouth. If you are watching sugar, there are sugar free ones too. Lemon drops are good ones. My mouth gets dry with the Antihistamine I’ve

been taking, and the pain meds. I drink about 2 qt.s of water daily, and it seems to help some. Also, there is a medicine they use for Sjogrens Syndrome which is a drying disease, and its suppose to help with adding moisture to the body/mouth, etc. You can probably find it by doing a search for the above disease. I guess topamax has many uses because I take it for migrain control! LOLKathleen Rothschild wrote: I can relate to you both. Dry mouth all day. Hi Tammy: I know you were actually writing to Anne but I'll answer you too. Especially since I posted the first about the dry mouth. :) I'm on Neurontin, Baclofen, Vicadin (hydrocodone) and then my thyroid and maxide for BP. I've been on Neurontin for years and years and it has never caused me to have dry mouth before. I am weaning off Neurontin now so I'll know soon if that has anything to do with my severe dry mouth. I am also on Flexarill, Topamax, Desogen, Vicodin prn, Maxalt prn, Ambien, Motrin 800 prn.....I think that's it. Geeesh...I sound like a drugggiiiieeee....LOL Maybe one of those is causing it. Although I didn't have dry mouth until I had my first exacerbation in March. I didn't start the Rebif until May and I just started the Neurontin until this week. I could be just the weather here. It is really starting to heat up. 102 yesterday!!!Sharon Marsden wrote: Hi

Hi Kate,…….i’m

sure one of the side effects of the Effexor is dry mouth. Most of the anti-d’s

have that side effect. Maybe sucking on hard candy will help you too? J

I can’t remember

if I welcomed you? Anyhow……..WELCOME! J

I’m Jackie from Oregon, w/MS for 25 years. I’ve

been with the group since it started and met Sharon at another group before she developed

this one.

OOOhhh, that is a

problem with me too, and lately I’ve been having urgency!! Actually I don’t

feel like I have to go THAT BAD until I stand up, and then it’s a race to

the loo. HA! me race??? ;-)

But, if I don’t

drink my water I am prone to UTI’s and so it’s a trade off.

Thank goodness for “poise”!

Ya ever wonder why they called them that? Lol….

Unfortunately, Sharon, they are not helping much at all, which is why my neuro who I saw the other day, is referring me to another neuro who hopefully has more knowledge and experience with TN. I'm to see a pain specialist next wk, who said plainly, don't expect much from me, as I don't deal with TN that much, but I will see you. The odd thing is, I had a blood vessel on my TN, had the microvascular decompression surgery last Aug.--mine was a vein, so the surgeon just burned it. Sept. and Oct were pain free. Beginning in Nov. the pain began to creep back. At that time I was no longer on meds. By Dec, I had to start back on neurontin, but it made me so damn forgetful, scary forgetful-left a young child home alone , fortunately only for a short time, but I didn't even realize I had done it! By April and May the pain was so awful I became suicidal and extremely depressed--other things were adding to it also...anyway, a very long answer to a very short question! I will see a Dr. at the MS Center at White Plains Hospital, in NY next Fri, and pray he can help me...blessings, kate
