Guest guest
Hi SaraJo, Another great BPD mom is Bill's mom on Big Love. She is a Queen Manipulator! > > Ok, So I just finished the entire first season of the Sopranos. > > You all need to watch it, specifically episodes 11, 12, and 13 of the > first season. Guest guest
I cried when Mama Soprano actress died in real life. Forget her name but she has played some great roles. I ve always wanted to go to a halloween party as Mama S.I recognized her instantly! Unfortunately I am an extreme introvert and dont do parties. No one has done bpd better on screen! If not you should! it was kind of validating for me. --------------------------------- Now with a new friend-happy design! Try the new Yahoo! Guest guest
I have a social anxiousness/almost phobia, a long shadow of living with the Yeti, who would humiliate my friends, in front of me (they were her lets-humiliate-scott-by-proxy proxies). Needless to say, none of them returned. > Unfortunately I am an extreme introvert and dont do parties. Guest guest
I, too, am watching the Sopranos from the beginning and can't get over how Tony's mom is a classic BPD. Her manipulation and rages are uncanny. Episodes One, 11, 12, and 13 are certainly telling. Season two is also full of validation for BP experiences... These episodes paint a vivid picture of what it's like to live with a parent who has BPD. It also shows the effects on their child (Tony). Mommie Dearest was closest to my childhood experiences. The movie is frighteningly close to what I saw in my younger years... Cybil = SCARY! > > Ok, So I just finished the entire first season of the Sopranos. > > You all need to watch it, specifically episodes 11, 12, and 13 of the > first season. Guest guest
One of the best written borderlines I've ever seen was in the first season of Weeds. Celia was in the hospital for breast cancer, and her mother showed up, posing as if she was 'supportive'. For those of you who know about trauma and the split-off ego states, Celia turned into her split off 12 year old at the time, and was, startlingly, very sweet. It also explained that most of the time Celia is her split off perpetrator, which is why she's so evil, but also amusingly witty, and ambitious. One of the ending scenes, the whole family goes no contact, ignoring the mother when she tries to bang on the door and windows. It was a very validating thing to watch--strangely engaging, on a spiritual level, for a show about a drug dealer. > > Ok, So I just finished the entire first season of the Sopranos. > > You all need to watch it, specifically episodes 11, 12, and 13 of the > first season. Guest guest
For me the Sopranos was a wake-up too, especially because once my mother watched it she took Tony's mom's side - yes that's right, even though she is clearly portrayed as mentally ill and abusive my mother took her side. It took a while to get my jaw up off the floor. She said Tony was just " whining " to his therapist while poor Livia was all alone and abandoned. Now I can understand why my mother would cast her own behavior in a positive light, but to do it for a tv character who is shown unflatteringly with the other characters calling her on it even a therapist just blew me away! I know I've shared this before but I just had to do it again....thanks for listening. julie > > > > Ok, So I just finished the entire first season of the Sopranos. > > > > You all need to watch it, specifically episodes 11, 12, and 13 of > the > > first season.
