Guest guest
Hello JimJax,Recently some members of the Lyme _and_Rife support group were asking information about the 3D Doug Coil Machines. Some of the technical information given by some members of the group as answers to this questions are incorrect, so for the benefit of the group members I would like to clarify this questions and answers:Question #1-. While looking at various sources I came upon the option of a 3D machine. It costs more money, of course, but here's my question. They make it sound like the 1 coil machine is going to burn itself out in no time! Answer #1-. The short answer to this question is that is not true, the one coil machine was designed by Doug Maclean and has provided excellent service for over 20 years. During these 20 years it has had the best track record against Lyme. The machine itself does not burn at all, as explained below the heating problem is with the Coil. What is known and accepted by hundreds of users, is that the coil as originally designed heats up in a few minutes: if the user is not careful to use it for a short time, it can get hot enough to damage itself, or at least burn the user when handling the coil. There are plenty of emails in support groups reporting this coil heating problem, from burning mattresses to having to wrap the coil in a towel to avoid the heat, or put it in the freezer before using it.In 2004 I built my first Doug Coil Machine. Then I had Lyme in my head and eyes and I tried using the original Coil right next to my face and eyes. I did this because I had measured the strength of the magnetic field produced by the coil and saw that it decreases rapidly with the distance from the coil.Since the Coil was too hot to touch my skin, to help myself I did four things:a)-. I redesigned the coil geometry so that the coil could have cooling slits, and added a cooling fan to blow air through the slits so that it would heat up slower.-. I placed an acrylic transparent shield in front of the coil to deflect the hot air to the sides, so my face and my eyes remained cool.c). I redesigned the geometry of the coil winding to generate a stronger magnetic field, so that the surface of the acrylic shield touching my skin still had a magnetic field strength of 150 Gauss: this is 50% stronger than the minimum strength of a 100 Gauss coil recommended by Doug Maclean on page 92 of Rosner's Book "Lyme Disease and Rife Machines. As shown in the following diagram of magnetic field intensities I made for a single Coil; in the surface of the coil windings I measured a strength of 200 Gauss decreasing to 10 Gauss at a distance of 10 inches: http://coilmachines.com/rifeimages/standardmagneticfield.jpgThis Air-Cooled-Coil can stay cool, without any time limit for frequencies of up to 612 Hertz at a safe temperature. As you use higher frequencies, up to 2112 Hertz the time limit that is safe to use the coil becomes shorter.d). I mounted the Air-Cooled-Coil in a base that can be easily positioned where needed.Question #2-. Is it really necessary or that much more beneficial to have 2 coils??? Answer#2-. short answer to this question is : it is not necessary to have a 3D machine, but it does have several very important benefits. As described in detail below a 3D machine is more powerful and twice as fast to use.As recommended by Doug Maclean, ( again in page 92 cited above), you should place the Coil in front and on both the right and left side of your head. As shown in the above magnetic intensity diagram diagram of one coil, when placing one coil on the side of the head, you are getting in the surface a magnetic field of 150 Gauss intensity, while 4-5 inches away you get a magnetic field strength of 40-50 Gauss. To help myself, I redesigned the electronic circuits so that I could have 2 Coils operating at the same time, one on the right side and one in the left side with the following benefits:a)-. As shown in the following diagram of Gauss magnetic intensities I made for two Coils separated 6 inches fromeach other, in the surface of both the right and left sides, the magnetic intensity is 150 Gauss. In the middle of the two coils, the magnetic intensity remains more uniform, with a 125 Gauss magnetic intensity between the two coils:http://coilmachines.com/rifeimages/mode2magneticfield6in.jpg This reinforcing of the magnetic field of two coils was extensively studied last century by Helmholtz in Germany, who invented the "Helmholtz Coils".-. Another benefit is that he time spent at the machine was reduced to one half: for example, instead of having one coil at the right side for say 1 minute and then another minute on the left side for a total of two minutes, you treated both sides in just one minute. You can also use the two Coils wit a larger space between, for example 16 inches and as shown in the following diagram, you still have the same benefits of more strength and reduced machine time. http://coilmachines.com/rifeimages/mode2magneticfield.jpg Statement#1-. When you connect two coils this way all that is being accomplished is dividing the power of each coil by two. In the old traditional electronic design of the Doug Coil Machine that might be true. This statement does not apply to the special electronic design of the 3D Doug Coil Machine. Each of the two coils has 15 amperes passing through each Coil, the QSC1850HD can deliver in this design up to 1400 watts of electrical power. However, it is more appropriate to consider "The Power" delivered by each Coil by measuring the intensity of the magnetic field they can produce resonating at the frequency selected by the user. As shown in the diagrams above, for one Coil and two Coils, the Magnetic Intensity of each of the coils is 150 Gauss. Statement #2-. The single coil models will concentrate a higher power level where you place the coil. This statement is not exclusive of the one Coil Machines: it is true that any coil concentrates its magnetic power to the front of the Coil: much like a light beam coming out of a flashlight, the intensity is higher towards the front than to the sides. The two coils of the 3D Machine also concentrate their magnetic power in the volume between them: as shown in the above diagrams, the magnetic power intensity is better preserved since it has a slower decay penetrating more efficiently into a deeper space. Statment #3-. In addition if you used two coils with ample power at the same time even if you were to employ two amplifiers I suspect that the overlapping fields would create feedback issues between the two systems. This statement is not true at all for the 3D Machine. The design of its electronic circuits is such that enough power can be efficiently produced by only one QSC1850HD Amplifier. Each of the two coils has the power to create a measured magnetic intensity of 150 Gauss. The suspicion that overlapping fields would create feedback issues might be correct for other circuit designs using two amplifiers: the careful new design of the 3D Machine reinforces the strength of the magnetic field of the two coils without any feedback issues. For the past 7 years I have manufactured several hundreds of Doug Coil Machines at coilmachines.com, many of them 3D: the information presented here is based on my personal experience.
