Guest guest
News item: European Commission Approves Irbesartan (brand names Avapri/Aprovel/Karvea) for the Treatment of Diabetic Renal Disease. Irbesartan is a blood pressure drug of the class called " angiotensin II receptor blocker " . These drugs have similar benefits for renal disease as do the ACE inhibitors. Irbesartan has already been in common use for this purpose. The European approval for diabetic kidney disease just means that the manufacturer conducted trials to get the drug approved for that specific purpose. It doesn't mean that other drugs of the same class wouldn't be as good. I've put a link to the news item on the News page of www.igan.ca Pierre P.S. I've been on irbesartan myself since 1999.
