Guest guest
OK, Rita. My nephrologist said me now to take Prednisone and a ACE-Inhibitor (Triatec) for 4 months (whith a ckeck every month of blood and urine) and then, if the result of this therapy is not good, in the next therapy he will add (or change some drug) Cellcept or some other drug (immunosoppressant). Guest guest
Hi Silvano, I just wanted to chime in that I took a similar regimen to yours. I was on the Pred and another ace-inhibitor called prinivil. It took a while, but it really worked. I started with high protien, 1.5 creatinine and went down to 0.6 protein and 1.0 creatinine. Good luck with it. I also really appreciated the monthly checkups to have someone tell me how things were going. Guest guest
The first month of Prednisone (25 mg /day) and ramipril (5 mg/day) had no effect on creatinine (1.7), but only on proteins on urine. Proteins were +3 (300) and now they are +2 (100). I hope also creatinine will change at the end of September. Guest guest
Silvano, Do you know what your proteinuria was and is in grams per day (only if you did a 24 hour urine collection though)? Guest guest
I haven't remarkable side effects also with this 'high' dosage of prednisone, but to protect gastrointestinal deseases I take also Omeoprazolo. I have only some small (not important) dermatological disease. If creatinine will remain unchanged my nephrologist probably in December will add (or substitute Prednisone with) CellCept. Guest guest
In Italy probably nephrologist don't give importance to 24 hour urine collection. When I go to hospital for renal biopsy the values of proteins in urine was from 1.5 to 3.6 g/l (then I suppose a minimum of 2 g / day and a maximum of 5 g / day) Silvano > > > > > Thank you for your update.
