I am afraid to drive now. ---- Hi Randy If you drive impaired, then your are just as susceptible as anyone to be charged with driving under the influence. Many people actually, drive better taking their medication, because pain is a horrible distraction too. I'm not just talking about just narcotics, but anything that causes you to be distracted when you are driving. If you are being hassled about a DUI, it sounds like you need to talk to a lawyer, asap. One more thing, a note from your doctor, about your medications is useless. There isn't a doctor on earth, who would risk losing their license to stand behind someone getting a DUI from anything they prescribe. State, and country laws vary, so look up yours, and see what it says. Guest guest
When I used to drive, I as well was concerned about the legal issues, however I feel that we have be issued mixed messages. I felt confident as long as I drove responsibly ( driving only when I was sure I was capable). When I got my handicapped placard, I listed all my medications and felt comfortable that I was being responsible to society in my forthright claim of my medications. After all if we disallowed all that had potential negative side effects and driving then that would also extend into many other drugs as well as pain meds. With a valid pain patient I've not yet heard of any unwarrented railroading. medusa >Randy wrote: I'm going to start another topic concerning the following but wanted to ask right now - what do you do when law enforcement learns you're on a narcotic pain med and then hassles you with DUI's?
