Guest guest
Rina, I want to welcome you to the list. My mother is a Type II Diabetic. She was diagnosed about 15 years ago and spent most of that time in denial until she ended up in the hospital last month. The endocrinologist told her yesterday that right now she should be more focused on trying to get the sugars under better control and after that is accomplished then she can focus on the weight loss. With this disease so many changes in life are being made and sometimes can be overwhelming. What are your sugars running on average right now? What was the result of your last A1c? Feel free to e-mail me privately any time. You will learn a lot here and we will help you all we can. Here are some ((((hugs))). ===== Kristy http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Hoping to be a nurse soon but for now just a Medical Secretary who does a lot of learning from reading on the Net, books, my dr(s), as well as sharing my own personal experiences. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I guess the questions to ask you are: have you seen a diatician to lay out what you can eat each meal? And do you follow this plan? What exercise do you do? and how often? The way to lose weight is burn more calories in a day than you consume. A more active person can eat more than one that is sedimentary and get away with it. Unfortunatly, what works for one person won't always work for everyone. Stan

If a person is sedimentary, does that mean they put down layers of fat and have hardened up due to pressure? ;-) Or.....are you saying a sedimentary person is made up of layers of junk? ;-) Sedimentary 1. Of, containing, resembling, or derived from sediment. 2. Geology. Of or relating to rocks formed by the deposition of sediment Sorry ;-p This just cracked me up ;-) (wsm311@...) Guest guest
Thank you for all of your emails. I've never been in any kind of group before so this is kind of strange for me. I'm feeling alittle vulnerable. My AC1 test was 9.? about 5 months ago. They are now 7.5, Not great, but much better. The change was due to med change from glucopage to glucovance and avandia. I was also working out-doing circuit training (hydraulic machines with aerobics in between every station; 30 minutes. I went 3 times a week. I still managed to gain 20 lbs on the meds. I became very frustrated. I have been seeing a nutritionist. We keep having to lower my carb intake until it was 15-20 g carbs w/protein-breakfast, lunch and dinner, protein for snacks. I will still go thru times when i just have proteins for breakfast and lunch. My body seems to be very sensitive to carbs. Now that I'm on insulin 75/25 humalog, 10 ml morning and night and glucovance, I'm having to readjust because of too many lows, especially when i eat no carbs in the morning I'm not excercising as much. My morning readings are still too high. Around 170-180. I know everyone is different. I do appreciate your thoughts. I have lost 7 lbs this month since i have been off avandia. I am still struggling with making the better choices for myself. I'm just taking it one day at a time. Insulin injections are not fun either. They hurt sometimes and other times they don't. I would still love to hear how people lose weight while on insulin or other crazy meds. It certainly is an uphill battle. But i will make it. I would love to hear from others struggling like me or was in the past. I am certainly not perfect. I am not extremely regimented, but i do try. You have a positive attitude, you are taking it one day at a time and you are trying. Continue this way and you will do fine. Eunice
Guest guest
Hello everyone I'm Jen and have been living with chronic pain for the best part of 5 years now. All started with a disc prolapse done through work. Spent over 3 years being made to feel like an inconvenience by the medical profession and having useless treatments. Take care all Jen
Guest guest
Hello Jen and welcome. I'm very happy to meet you only I wish it wasn't under these circumstances. You where saying that the doctors made you feel like an inconvenience. I was just wondering what you meant by that? I hope that you find understanding and friendships here. We all know what you mean when you talk about your pain. Having people who really do understand you is a wonderful thing. So rant and rave all you want or just come and talk. Guest guest
Hello Jen, Welcome to the group. I am sorry you have the chronic pain that brought you here, but this is a wonderful group that has wonderful people. Why do you feel as though you were an inconvenience to the medical professions? I am just wondering. I hope there is a way to ease your pain!
