Guest guest
Dave, Just think of yourself as a diabetic and you need insulin. I encourage you to also to go to the pain sites show how patients are successful with long term opoid usage. I cannot lift anything over five pounds or I suffer. I changed my career field to teaching so I did not have lifting duties, although I am on disability now. Of course, my husband is the main supporter of our family and I cannot imagine if we had to depend on me for finances. My employer told me I cannot come back to work Nov 2006, I walked in one day and they had a letter. It was the same year my son started college and we were not on scholarships. He was in the 12 % of 1000 students and if he was 10% he would have full scholarship. It was a real shock but it was good because I was also having hypothyroidism that caused me small strokes, high blood pressures, incoherent, slurred speech, difficult swallowing, hair falling out, vitamin deficits. I had thyroid surgery in August, they took it out because I had many nodules and I also had a mass on my larynx. My work thought my symptoms were because of my medications and I was a druggie. It was horrible to my self esteem. I had exceptional evaluations but I did not need to be working with the pain conditions I had. I would have just kept getting up until I dropped over. What a life. Now I am trying to take care of myself FIRST and heal mentally and physically. I was lucky enough to get disability without a lawyer the first time. I also have good health insurance and a pain management doctor NOW. I had poor pain management doctors before. Dave, please put yourself first and know most of us think the same thing of our pain medication. What if my doctor moves, dies, or closes? What if, the questions could go on and on but I am working on not worrying so much. This pain group and others and research on the internet help me to make decisions to help me. If you need any help, an ear to listen, my personal e-mail is bennie@.... Good luck Dave and we are thinking of you. Bennie
