Guest guest
Funny Becky mentioned the doc not believing her because of her humor; I was shocked to find one of my ex-docs thought that I " laughed at inappropriate times " because, in dealing with my pain, my humor can be somewhat wry. (that's wry, not rye as in bread) I too think my pets save me from the insanity of the State of Inertia. I've got a 9 year old cat (about a four pounder) that came to us just before my illness started, some huge Jack Dempsy fish that also think I'm the Food Goddess, and two wolf-hybrids that are known as my furry kids. My sons have grown, and so don't take them for walks to the park anymore, but thank goodness our property is more than large enough for them. When they're in a playful mood they actually make me laugh out loud. To hear them, you'd think they were killing each other, and they howl an awful lot when they hear sirens (which can be rather unfortunate for the whole neighborhood at 3AM), but I wouldn't trade the joy and loyalty they give me every day for anything. My husband and sons are the most hilarious people I know, and they're very important to my coping with the damn pain. They even integrate my maladies into their humor with cracks like, " Oops, I dropped something. I must have 's Syndrome " and " Oh, I can't remember something. I have 's Swiss Cheese Head! " (I explained brain fog to my doc that way once: things make it into my head, bounce around and are sometimes never seen again.) I'm glad for this Off Topic line of thought. It's good to be reminded of our ability to laugh when we're feeling pretty grim. I was having the normal, cruddy morning alone when I read these posts and I'm now at least more cheerful about the new day. Thanks you all! in Oregon > So, a sense of humor also helps me to take my mind off of things. My doctor doesn't really believe me too much about my constant chronic pain because of this humor, which I think is pretty messed up. I have had people question my pain level until they take my blood pressure and it is 170/100 that shows my pain level correct. I also had a neice who laughs when see is nervous. I took her to a urologist once and we had called for a immediate appointment because she had a severe kidney infection. She was laughing when seeing the doctor and he did not take her seriously until he got the lab tests. She know tells them that she has a nervous laugh so the know her. So I will continue to laugh and hope it continues to stimulates endorphins an causes problems. Bennie
Guest guest
I love gerbils. Don't have any but my brother-in-law used to. We would make them pancakes and they would sit on them and soak up the heat while rotating around and eating the edge. I have 3 dogs, a 3 legged cat, who is really my husband's baby, 2 fish and 23 goats. I don't take care of the goats but they are fun to go out and visit and feed treats to. I think this is very on topic because if it weren't for the animals I'd have no reason to even try to get out of bed suring the day. At least they are entertaining enough that I want to try to visit them every day.
