Question re: options

Hi Amie:

Unfortunately you will probably get just as many opinions here, as you did from

the doctors. For myself, I have had one side removed surgically, and the other

treated with Gamma Knife Radiation. The surgical side resulted in total

deafness, and partial facial paralysis. On the Gamma Knife side I have retained

the hearing the I had when I started, and there was no facial paralysis. I

still get the tinnitus on occasion, but that is usually when I'm over tired or

over stimulated with caffeine. If I avoid those two things I'm able to control

it. Of all the things that I find most frustrating is the facial droop, and I

never thought that I was a vain woman.

I agree with , you will have to chose what is best for your overall health.

Best of luck on making your decision!

Joyce

Hi Sheryn, I have alot of the same problems you do regarding the eyes and

the nose and the mouth (face, in general).

I, myself, don't lose liquids out the side of my mouth any more because I

bought straws and take them everywhere I go. I admit that it's sometimes

inconvenient, but I think a little inconvenience is a lot more acceptable to

me than the embarrassment of dribble sliding down my face.

Hi June,

This is great advice June. And those bending straws are helpful too in

certain situations. Thanks June
