Guest guest
I'm not sure but I don't think these things are quite as pinpoint as that. It would show if you were really high or low but not if you just missed by a few hours. I can't really tell you whether confessing is a good idea or not, but it will mostly be up to what kind of relationship ou have with your doctor. Let us know. Guest guest
Oh, I'm sure many of us have done that. At least once a week my hubby and I will be standing in the kitchen together, trying to remember if we just took our meds or if we need to. The sad thing is that we're 39 and 47 years old! I even use pill boxes with dates on them, and have seperate ones for morn, noon and night. But I keep my vicodin and flexaril in the bottles next to the boxes. Every so often I find I've just stuck two flexaril in my mouth instead of one. Now, that's dumb! in Oregon > This morning, I think I took a Sonata instead of a Kadian -
Guest guest
Hi , I also have pill boxes that have the days of the weeks on them. I have two pill boxes. Each have compartments for each day of the week. But, some of my medications I leave in their respective containers. I have forgotten whether or not I have taken a medicaion before as well. And I am only 29 years old! I call it my Fibro Fog. I just blame it on my fibromyalgia ha ha. But, ti does scare me sometimes. If I think I might have taken the wrong medication or too much of a medication, I go into a full blown panic attack. And I mean I panic and thoughts such as that I am going to be hurt or die and such. I gulp water and eat food sometimes. 99.9999999% of the time, it's just me panicking because of my panic disorder though lol. I rarely ever accidently take more of anything. And when I do, it is medication that it's ok. For example... With my Tramadol, I can take 2 every 4 hours. I will take one. A couple hours later take another one (not meaning too) and then I will go into a panic attack. LOL. Guest guest
" This morning, I think I took a Sonata instead of a Kadian - that wouldn't be much of an issue, except that this morning I had an appointment at my pain doc's and they did one of their surprise urine tests " ! Cheryl in AZ and in A Panic ******************* Hello Cheryl, In this country the counterpart to Kadian is called Kapanol, a sustained release capsule containing polymer coated pellets, in strengths of 10, 20, 50 & 100 milligrams. After reading the product information i'm sure that your urine screen will show no abnormalities due to the sustained release mechanism lasting for 12 to 24 hours. This product metabolises over the full 24 hour dosing period even though you may be taking it twice daily ? Metabolites will be present regardless of either once or twice a day dosing. In a post recently you pointed out the difference between the Contin's and Kadian. M.S.Contin will pass through for up to 12 hours whereas Kadian's steady state will persist for a full 24 hour period and beyond to a degree. As for the soma, that should just indicate that you are taking it as per schedule, no problems i'm sure although I can understand your anxiety. Hang in there this could happen to anyone of us ! A popular misconception with M.S.Contin is that it will only work for between 6 to 8 hours. It's analgesic properties may decline or seem to stop completely although the metabolic process will continue for at least 12 hours. I'm sure you are aware of these facts, just wanted to reassure you. These tests would be qualitative as opposed to quantitative, i imagine ? Wishing you all the very best, Regards, Shane. Guest guest
Hi all - Thanks to everyone for their support, and for sharing your own stories of mixing up your meds at times! I don't feel like quite such a dunderhead. But why oh why did I have to do it on a urine test day??! The fates are not kind. Anyway, I called my pain doc's nurse this morning, she called right back and I explained what happened, and she was very kind. She said the samples hadn't gone out yet, so she'd attach a note, and that that's all that she needed and it would be fine. This doc's office staff really is exceptional. That's why I was in such a panic over the possibility of losing them! So there is still forgiveness in this world for an honest mistake. Thank goodness! Cheryl in AZ, with a big sigh of relief
Guest guest
> Okay folks, today I did something so royally stupid, and I'm in a bit of a panic about it. Cheryl, I don't think that the Kadian would have been out of your system, depending on the life span of the drug. Talking to them would be great but your pill count would be off. My avinza and Lyrica are same sized pills and I take my medication at five in the morning and have made that mistake. My Lexpro and muscle relaxant are the same sized and are plain white pills. My pain management doctor does not count or do drug urine tests. I have been to a doctor that does do counts and one time I took a pill at three in the morning and when I went in I got a big lecture and I felt so small. My current doctor says to me when I say I took extra breakthru(I did take it 4-6 hours like it said) and my prescription ran short, he said " Well then we need to add something else to change, as this is not working " . He NEVER makes me feel like a " bad girl " for taking prescriptions out of cycle. He looks at the reason to correct it. I am on a contract and I have to keep a pain diary and function assessment (what activities I can do ) so he knows what is working. I am so lucky to have him. The other pain management was a patient mill. Patients were seen every fifteen minutes and you did not go over that time. I have been so scared when I went in and had to tell them, I took out of cycle medication but every time, they have been so compassionate. I know that doctors have contracts in place to protect them. I am sure that they will be understand especially since you have been there and perfect patient. I do not think the drug test will not show any problems. I do not think you can excrete your Kadian especially if you took it later. Good Luck and let us know, I am curious about the drug testing and what it shows. Will be thinking about you ! Cheryl, I am so glad that you found that out! Now you know that the staff is really exceptional! I feel the same way about my pain management doctor and their staff. I would never want to do anything to compromise their position. I have a pill organizer but don't use it, I count my medicines but several of my medications look alike. I am going to start using my pill organizer again. Bennie, glad for you !
