So they are increasing pressure against your discs. On one of my vertebrae it was 10 cc, one was 30, and one was no resistance. You have to be without pain medications so you can tell them when to stop. Myelogram is just an injection of a amount that is always the same to visualize the workings of your spine. They never hurt unless you get a cerebral spinal fluid leak and it causes a spinal headache. The headache is treated by them withdrawing some blood from your arm and injecting at the site of the leak and creating a blood patch. They are both exams used to find defects in the spine, the discogram is used as last step because it is painful. It was necessary for me as the MRI and CT did not show my disinergrated disc material. They do a CT scan after both procedures. Spine Universe has pictures of both and the description of the exam. Just remember, Discogram hurts! but was worth it for me.
