Guest guest
Just a cute joke that was sent to me by a friend: A little boy wanted $100 badly and prayed for two weeks, but nothing happened. Then he decided to write a letter to the Lord requesting the $100. When the postal authorities received the letter addressed to the Lord, USA, they decided to send it to President Bush. The President was so impressed, touched, and amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $5.00 bill. President Bush thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy. The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 and sat down to write a thank you note to the Lord, which read: Dear Lord, Thank you very much for sending me the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you had to send it through Washington D.C. and, as usual, those jerks deducted $95....
Guest guest
Pretty shocking story. It's been on the news here too. I didn't realise it was in your area. Guest guest
, Big in the news here too, difficult to imagined how I would react if it happend to me, quite defastating. It puts my miniscule problems into perspective. Guest guest
Thanks Frances. The US has had it's share of these horrendous happenings recently as well. Marty Re: Re: Off Topic I'm shocked this has been such international news. For those of you, like myself who have young children, it reinforces the fact that paedophiles often " groom " children for sometime and do come from all classes, colours, and most importantly both sexes. When I was a WPC one of the things which we hated most was the personalised t-shirts, bags and as is popular here at the moment Alicebands. When someone appears to know their name and then claims to be picking them up on behalf of their parent, they feel it must be genuine, forgetting their name is on view to this person. , I know how you feel about it being so near. The Chillenden murders involving Josie and her sister and mother, is not only 14 minutes drive from where I live, but also on my old beat. Unfortunately, its a bit like sewer rats - we are all unknowingly only a few feet away from these beasts, and the same goes for paedophiles to a certain extent. Yes Marty, it does put things into perspective. Now on a lighter note, we have finally got the Quorn health warnings in yesterday's papers. Apparently 4% of people have had an allergic reaction.. Good news, this means 96% of people have not! I'm sure 4% of people have an allergic reaction to many other things in the food chain. Good luck tomorrow Marty. Guest guest
Its all been very sad indeed . Sally. Off Topic Pierre I hope you dont mind me posting this here, I just had to say something. For those of us in the UK I hope you will unite with me in my prayers for the parents and family of the two children and Holly who it would seem have been found murdered today. For our friends overseas, this has been a huge story in the UK for nearly 2 weeks. I am absolutely devastated by this news, and given that the village concerned is only 30 minutes south of where I live I am very very shocked. The suspected two perpretrators of his henious crime should never be freed from prison. A sad day, in a very sad world. Thank you for allowing me the space to say these few words.
