Guest guest
> Do you think the Pain doctor will give me something to help? I refuse to push for pain medication. If I go to another doctor then I will be " doctor shopping " . I'm sick of this unrelenting PAIN. >Lorraine, You need to change your attitude toward " pushing " for pain medicines. You are advocating for your self and if you do not, no one else will. I encourage you to keep a pain dairy to give to your doctor to show your pain levels and the effectiveness of what you take. The American Pain Foundation is a good source to get a copy of pain dairy. I was left to fend for my back pain for seven years and had a series of twenty epidermal shots. Three at a time. THESE CAUSE SCAR TISSUE> Just remember this when they say they are harmless. This is the protocol that the doctors do: Injections to see if you respond. I did this and I would do a series of three. This lasted me lowered pain and Ultram kept me for about a year. I just kept getting worse and they kept injecting me and the scarring made it more painful. I Finally had a discogram seven years after and I had three lumbar discs crumbled. Discograms should be done much earlier. Spine universe (a website) is very informative. Also get a Second & third opinion. Get used to advocating for pain medication and the pain diary and functional report (what you can't do compared to what yup could do. Physical Therapy has mostly always helped me when the therapist let me tell her what I could do so I didn't cause more pain. Do NOT go to a chiropractor as the motion on the lumbar vertebrae cause rubbing and irritation and damage. The main focus is to keep the back as good as it now and less pain so that you can function. I ended up having to have a three level spinal fusion with instrumentation after second opinions and much thoughts. I could have prevented two of the levels if my doctors would have intervened earlier but they were anesthesiologists and use only needle injections and are billed as pain management specialists. I now take a timed morphine and break thru medicine and can get up out of the bed. Oh, I forgot to tell you I had an automobile accident six months after my lumbar surgery and it permanently damaged my SI joint so that is my NEW pain I have to live with the rest of my life. Take care and let me know if I can help with any back stuff or pain management issues, I will help as everyone else here. They are wonderful.
