Guest guest
Hi, all. 2 weeks ago I had a trigger point injection where some medication was injected (lidocaine and some steriod " acetyl... " I can't remember the name). Anyhow, at the site the medication was injected, the skin seems to be sticking to whatever is below it (muscle? tendon?) and there is an indentation. The dimple or dent is about the size of a 1/2 ping pong ball. Also, the skin that is stuck has what looks like a little bruise in color, slightly pinkish as if I was poked there. And the surface of the skin looks like a rug burn (when you skin your knees on a rug, kind of smooth skin looking and shiny-ish). What is this? Has this happened to anyone else? Jade, Yes, I had this happen to me but I had extensive scarring at my trigger point. The injection fluid could have collected in a pocket of tissue or scarring was broken up. If you type in Trigger point injection reaction there are several articles about this. The articles say it is a common reaction to have swelling and small amount of pain. They say call your doctor if there is redness or warmth in the area. You can gently massage the area, apply heat and ice alternately. The trigger point is usually the muscle they inject and it is supposed to respond by relaxing. If there was scarring abound the trigger point, it might be just be breaking down and being absorbed. I had physical therapy after my trigger point injections to help keep the muscles relaxed. If it were me, I would just massage gently to see if that helps. It couldn't hurt to have the doctor to check it. Hope it gets better. Bennie
