Guest guest
Hi everyone! I am new to our group. I am 79 years young, male and have had this condition for 12 years. Have been under VA care most of that time. The pain goes from my lower back through my right buttocks, down my right leg into my foot whick tingles all the time. I've tried shots, Ten's unit, Morphine, hydocodone and physical therapy. The shots and Ten's unit did nothing for me. The morphine and hydrocodone made me a me a zombie: the physical therapy has helped more than anything. I've learned my limits in lifting anything heavy and try to limit my bending over. The back muscles that run on either side of your spine need to be strenghened especially if you are overweight. Lay on a pillow on the floor with one end at shoulder height. Alternatlely lift each leg about six inches off the floor. Try to do 20 or more each leg to start with. When you work up to 50 reps per leg, you can add weight to your legs by putting pennies in old socks and draping them across your ankles. Start again with 20 reps and work up. Do this exercise every other day. Lifting weights while sitting can be beneficial also. The last thing I want to have done is invasive surgery. If you can manage the pain, to me, that is the best way to go. Please email me and let me know how you are managing your pain. Hope you are having a better day.
