I also love to watch scary movies. Not a lot of the newer ones, though. Unless they aren't too gory. Some new scary movies are too unreal to be scary. lol. Does anyone else like to watch movies, or even read, to help take our minds off pain? Love, Becky/SD --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage. My elderly mother read Harlequin romances and I never knew why, know I do. I watched silent movies last night on TNT, and laughed a lot. I also watch Discovery, HGTV, and learn a lot of interesting things. My husband looks forward to the " new " things. He even watched, " Project Runway " with me. I read books that are positive and mostly self help but I am going to try to read some escape books. Bennie
Guest guest
Hi Bennie, I also like to watch the Discovery Channel and HGTV. I also watch the History Channel and History International, all the Discovery channels lol, and some others. Learning new things helps me to escape lol. My mom always reads romance novels. I never knew why either. I didn't think it was about " escaping " lol Love, Becky/SD --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. Absolutely, Becky! I am a huge fan of Netflix, the online rental service. I definitely get my money out of them! Much cheaper than renting by the movie, and much much easier too! Plus I find edgy or independent films I never would have found or might not have been willing to try any other way. I must say that I can't stand scary movies, however. I'm also an avid reader. The library sees me at least once a week. I tell all my family when it's Christmas or birthday gift time to just give me gift cards to Amazon.com. I'm even trying to start a book club with some friends - if we can only find time when everyone can meet! I've recently started " beading " as a hobby as well - my niece got me started. I buy great unique beads cheap off ebay or on sale at the craft stores - the hunt is half the fun! - and am making tons of jewelry that I'm able to give to friends and family (because I certainly can never wear it all myself!) It's a terrific creative outlet that I can do sitting in bed, and it completely absorbs me for hours at a time. It's a perfect hobby for me because I loooooove jewelry - I'm like a crow, attracted by shiny pretty things! And of course, my pets are a huge distraction and always make me laugh. I have quite the menagerie. I have a cockatiel boy with a huge ego who talks up a storm and tells me exactly what to do, but who also loves to cuddle and snuggle and preen together; a rescue Border Collie girl who is trained completely with positive reinforcement (she never hears " no " and doesn't need to!) who loves to learn new " stupid party tricks " (she knows about 30) and finds nothing so challenging as a game of hide-and-seek with her toys in the house; and a rescue calico cat we've had 15 years now who wonders when we're going to stop fattening up the bird and just go ahead and cook/serve it to her (because she's far to lazy to hunt him down herself and deserves to be waited on!) and who also wonders when we're going to learn that dogs belong outside and not in the house where regal queen kitties live. She's also a master " spooner. " Who couldn't be entertained with this lot??? Cheryl in AZ Moderator
Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, LOL! Wow, you do have a menagerie at your house with the bird, dog, and cat! I love it when my animals all get hyper and become spazoids. I also love to read. I haven't been to the library in so long. I have bought almost all of my books and am still have some to read. My plan was to read them, then donate them to the library. I just haven't taken them to the library yet lol. I have heard that beading is absolutely fun! I love to make cards by stamping and adding ribbons and bows and such. I want to learn to scrapbook since we have so many photos just laying around the house. I don't want to do anything elaborate, but enough to where the are descriptions of everything so that in the future it is easier to remember. Also, for others to read when they look at pictures so I don't have to explain everything LOL.
