Guest guest
A lot of people have written lately that their family blames all their problems on their medications, claiming they're " addicted " and other baloney. I think too many of us are far too open with other people about what medications we take! The simple solution is simply to not tell anyone other than your doctors (and maybe your spouse) about your medical treatment. Why do all these other people need to know all the details of every medication? They don't! Not one single person in my family other than my husband knows anything about my medications or my treatment. Not my parents, not my siblings, not my in-laws - nobody. Definitely nobody at work knows, and none of my friends know the details either. It's just none of their business. The people who need to know are aware that I suffer from a spinal cord injury and chronic pain, but they don't have to have any details about my treatment. As a result, I don't have to deal with any stupid prejudices about my choices of treatment. And the fact is that nobody can even tell that I'm taking any medications from my behavior, which I'm sure is true for a lot of you as well. I think some people tell others all the details of their treatment to try to get those people to recognize how serious the condition is, but that just backfires when the prejudices and accusations kick in. In cases like that, it's just better to keep quiet, or find a way to discuss the condition without giving away all the details of your treatment. Just my opinion....
