Guest guest
Another - possibly even better? - option for those with back pain who prefer to sleep in a recliner is to go one step further and get a " zero gravity " recliner. These recliners go waaaaaay back and put you in the perfect position to relieve the pressure on your spine and legs. Sometimes the only way I can sleep when my radiculopathy is at its worst is to sleep in my zero gravity chair. The really good ones can be extremely expensive, covered in leather and with a power function to put them in position. You can see ones like that at Relax The Back stores, or online at www.relaxtheback.com However, if you want to see if the position helps without spending $1000+, you can often find an inexpensive ($60 or less) " lawn chair " version at places like Target or Home Depot/Lowe's, to see if you like the position. I wouldn't want to sleep in one of those cheap ones long-term - the loose fabric probably wouldn't provide the support you need - but it would give you a chance to see if the position helps you. I even know one friend who carries her folding lawn-chair version with her when she travels, so she'll have it to use in motels or in friend's houses! I have a rolling laptop cart that moves over my lap when I'm in my zero-gravity chair and that rotates the laptop so that I can use it in the reclined position. That's where I do a lot of my computer work. Cheryl in AZ Moderator
