If I'd used the higher one first it would've been a mess! The PT tried it first and it felt awful! I am laughing at the description of your shoes. Mine were in the 60's as well (born in '64) but girls got red and boys got brown and they had a scuff guard thing on the toe. Lace up oxfords. (I did get to wear patent leather for that hour of sunday school and that hour of church on sundays but that was it) Mine were heavy and ugly but they really did feel good to my feet. I later discovered that if someone gave me any trouble (I was very shy and quiet) I could kick the ever lovin' crap out of them with one of those clodhoppers and it was something they wouldn't soon forget!!
