Positive psychology is the best for this. Sent from my iPhone

Hi...i am gonna make this very quick, coz i get too drained out during the day, coz of fasting

but Does anyone know whats the best treatment for COMPLEX PTSD?

I have an american friend who sufferes from Complex PTSD, and she said it's the diff from ptsd. it's like the diff. between a headache and a migraine.

she did a year of CBT, and it did not help her.

I briefly looked into the book (online) she's reading (Rebuilding Shattered Lives: Treating Complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders" by A. Chu), and tried to google treatment for CPTSD, some of the therapies they mention, i have never heard b4. e.g. Eye movement desensitization & reprocessing, Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy

MY QUESTION: Would it help her to seek Therapy from an ACT therapist?

thank you . wasalaam:-)

What is conceptualized as " complex PTSD " (which is not technically a diagnostic category at this time) is something that can look a lot like a disorder that has been treated really effectively by a therapy called Dialectical Behavior Therapy.  DBT is very good for those with difficulties in emotion regulation.  ACT would also be very helpful I would think.  ACT is a lot like DBT but with some different theoretical underpinnings, a bit of a different model, and less rigidity in its structure. But the interventions can look a lot alike..

EMDR, CPT, prolonged exposure, these could widely be considered among the various forms of CBT that exist -- it is possible the CBT that she did included these elements, or not.

Hi

I've not written on this list before but have followed for about a year now. I

am currently wearing the labels of complex ptsd and ordinary garden variety ptsd

as a way of gaining perspective and understanding of these clusters of patterns

and survival techniques I cleverly devised in childhood in order to survive it.

I am using a combination of ACT and listening partnerships to process old,

painful feelings as they arise and lead a valued life, defusing from what my

mind is currently obsessing on as a diversionary tactic from feeling pain and

remembering I am connected to open intelligence (mindfulness) in teamwork with a

fine ACT therapist here in Northern New South Wales, Australia. There is much

hope for your friend within ACT for complex ptsd.

Cheers
