Guest guest
Having read gobs of posts and reports concerning Lyme testing, here a is summation of what I have learned. Many test positive for Lyme after testing negative for Lyme due to having to treat first in order to get the body to be strong enough to produce antibodies to show up in testing. Lyme reportedly does not like to live in the blood, but prefers tissues like spinal fluid and joint fluid, and thus it is often not present in the tiny spec of blood that labs use to look for it. It appears that those most likely to show a positive are those that show little symptoms, those that have been exposed less than a year, and those that have been recently treated. I have heard of some testing positive for Lyme that use the labs their insurance company recommends, but rarely. Most say they have had to find LLMDs or Naturopaths to get a positive and accurate diagnosis. Igenex is still the most popular on the Lyme forums. Fry Labs is popular for coinfections. Fry Labs of Arizona recently started testing for Lyme. I am not sure how reliable they are compared to Igenex. The coinfections, Bartonella and Babesia complicate Lyme treatments, so they are often tested for and actually treated first to be able to conquer the Lyme. When you find an LLMD (Lyme Literate medical doctor) or a naturopath, they usually have a specific view on which tests to use. Love and prayers, Heidi N
