This makes me wonder if you had a source of photon LED anything close to the GRT light used by Dr. . He is treating the cranial nerves in his work so what if you were to have someone shine a light device on the vagus nerve while you did this gargling?

Just a thought.

Best,

I'm in search of any interesting info any of you might have on the vagus nerve. Last week I dragged myself thru a nasty chronic fatigue flare up caused by pushing a homeopathic a little too hard (brain fog--messed up the ND's written instructions and tipped into a healing crisis of mythic proportions). Looks like I'm shedding a virus and it's stirring up trouble with the vagus nerve.

My son's neuro-chiropactor chatted with me about it for a few mins at my kid's appt this week (I was practically clinging to the walls for support) and suggested I try gargling--plain water--at least 1x a day for 6 weeks. Work your way thru a glass of water. He said it will stimulate and tone the vagus nerve. Then once I'm back on my feet we can take a look at my issues thru the neuro-chiro lens.

Well, one week with the gargling and I already feel SOOO much better. I've got my 13 yr old started on it as well. Looking for more ideas, more info. I know it's out there, I just hadn't connected the dots before.

Thanks,Jill

I need to get my hands on one! Money has been an issue in purchasing lights,

etc. Any suggestions for one that's reasonably priced?

Jill, That's so interesting that something as simple as gargling could have such affects, thanks for sharing!  Has your 13 yo son noticed any changes after doing it also?  I looked up the vagus nerve on wikipedia and I was amazed at how much of the body it affects.

I don't think my son has seen quite the benefit I have. I've been googling it

like mad myself and can't believe I never made the connection--even after

sitting thru presentations on Autism and the Vagus Nerve at a conference.

(That's a DAN doc DrJB who ultimately suggests nicotine patches). I even

remember at the IA conference a couple of years ago Dr E saying " The vagus

nerves is my favorite nerve... " and I can't remember the rest of it.

Sleep, fatigue, anxiety, inflammation, stomach emptying, IBS, attention...very

interesting list of associated issues.

Cardiac Vagal Tone, defensiveness, and motivational style [An article from: Biological Psychology]

 [Digital]

H.L. Movius (Author)http://www.amazon.com/Cardiac-Vagal-defensiveness-motivational-style/dp/B000RR41RE

Description: Cardiac Vagal Tone has been proposed as a stable biological marker for the ability to sustain attention and regulate emotion [Porges, Monographs of the Society for Research in Child Development 59 (1994) 167-186]. Vagal tone is a physiological index of parasympathetic nervous system influence on the heart that has predicted a number of emotional behaviors and styles in infants, children, and adults. Little research, however, has sought to explore the link between vagal tone and established variables relating to personality and self-regulation. In this study, vagal tone was collected

during 5-min baseline, stress, and recovery periods. Subjects (n=98) also completed a short form of the Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale, the Behavioral Activation and Behavioral Inhibition Scales, the Manifest Anxiety Scale, the Self-Consciousness Scale, and the Openness to Experience subscale of the Five Factor Personality Inventory. Poorer modulation for vagal tone was associated with greater social anxiety, while lower vagal tone across recording periods was associated with greater defensiveness and lower behavioral activation sensitivity.

We've been using Sota Lightworks at home for almost a year on the vagus nerve

and elsewhere per Dr. E's protocol for my son. That and regular quantum

neurology sessions have provided much improvement in pronunciation, muscle tone,

calmness, sensory...basically everywhere across the board. I would highly

recommend this product and very affordable considering what's out there.
