Inability to fall asleep at night on new bartonella protocol

After 3 years of lyme/bartonella/babesia protocols, my son's bartonella hensalae tests came back high positive IGM and IGG. So, we are trying new meds and I can see a positive response already (finally potty trained for bowel movements on the 2nd day of meds- yippee!)

BUT, he can no longer fall asleep at night. I also see increase in PANDAS behaviors which we are simulaneously treating. We are using melatonin and magnesium and epsom salt baths.

Any other ideas? He is driving me crazy. I am tired.

Misty,

The Mccamish you are talking about is Dr S Mccamish . If yes, did you try her

protocol?

Have you tried http5 or St john's wart? Valerian is something used for sleep as well but isn't supposed to be used longterm.Sent from my iPhone

Caryn,I have realized that falling asleep at night is easier if you supplement with that specific aim during the day: I am using psy-stabil (pekana homeopathy) 2 x day in order to keep the nerves under control, if your son tolerates Q10, a generous dose in the early morning will help too, then l-triptophan and melatonin close to bedtime. Its working well for me. For my son, the same excepting the l-triptophan, I also add generous lavender oil from young living to his bathtub (some days l do epsom salts, some days it is plain bicarbonate, or sea salt or burt's bees bath salts). Is your son exercising a little? Mine has difficulty falling asleep on days he doesn't. My close friend was having sleep problems w her 5yo son. She took him to the acupuncturist and the problem is almost solved after 3 sessions.BlessingsIsa Enviado desde mi oficina móvil BlackBerry® de TelcelSender: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Date: Wed, 06 Apr 2011 23:52:52 -0000To: <BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism >ReplyTo: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Subject: Inability to fall asleep at night on new bartonella protocol After 3 years of lyme/bartonella/babesia protocols, my son's bartonella hensalae tests came back high positive IGM and IGG. A homeopath just recommended PassiFlora Plex for my daughter who also has trouble falling asleep. I believe it's homeopathic passion flower, It's on back order so I can't say whether it works or not. i'll let you know once we get it. Good luck.

I am hoping it's a temporary thing. We parents go through so much!!! Usually

new meds cause die-off at first for us, but the extra symptoms go away in a few

days or a few weeks. That darn MB12 makes 5 weeks of die-off for us, but

everything else we did just caused extra symptoms at first and then it continues

to taper down, not lasting more than a few weeks. For us, we have to really get

the Melatonin dose just right. If we take either too much or too little, we

don't sleep.

Love and prayers,

My son has not slept more than a few hours, per night for several weeks.

Strep must be really high again. And then when he is back on Zithromax, only

will sleep

every other night. So tired of this as well.

No homeopathic, 5HTP, Herbs, Melatoni have helped. I have a large lovely box

full of things tried, and did not work. Including essential oils.

What has helped on the nights he did sleep was Reiki - so I must learn how to do

it!!

Hi,

I have a son with ongoing issues, and I have found that earthing sheets are

MAGIC for my son. I believe it lessens the stress he has from overloads of

bacteria/viruses etc. He sleeps soundly almost all the time, and he quickly

discharges energy (in him it is headshaking behaviour - comes home from school

with this behaviour) within a very short time of sitting on his sheet.

The book is very interesting, we all have the sheets on the beds, plus pads

under our feet when using the computer. You can feel the change.

There are lots of links on utube to watch, even DH was impressed (he did

measurements himself at home before we bought them).

We initially thought the readings of 10-11V were excessive in the below video

link, until we had a friend over, he had been on his cell-phone, was sitting

adjacent to a wall with a powerpoint, plus had his foot near the charger on his

laptop computer. He got a reading of 14-16V !!! So the video below is not a

shonky one.. we then had him touch the pad (and his reading went down to 0.01V),

then up again without the supportive measure.

This link was the one that got dh on-board.

na

No vested interest in these things just convinced it does help destress our kids

and thus helps them settle/sleep.

Hi caryn, what test did you run for the bartonella, was it the smear?

Mine finally came back pos too, my LLMD said it could also indicate mycoplasma,

which I always have a high IgG titer to.

what meds is he on for the bartonella?

congrats on the potty training, that is great news!

was he on the magnesium/meletonin/epson salt before adding in the bartonella

meds?

we have similar problems with sleep but we wake evey few hours all night long

and wake at 3-5 am for good.

just started nebulized bactroban to kill strep/staph in sinus cavities and after

first dose (half dose since we dont tolerate full dose of anything) we both are

waking at 3 am for good, and my son's fears/phobias/anxiety/rages are worse ....

Yes. Heinerman's Encyclopedia of Fruits and Vegetables cites one study where it was rolled into joints, so to speak, and given to teens to get them off weed. It was alleged to be successful. Depending on soil conditions and potency, it might work. Lots of substances lose potency because stuff is not grown, processed or stored right, however. Strong organic tincture diluted in warm water with Manuka honey, perhaps? From: "dgfindley@..."

Caryn and all,

My son nowadays does not have a sleep problem. In the past, when he did,

Nutramedix Amantilla (valerian) and Babuna (chamomile) were helpful to him.

Both are herbal tinctures quantum physically imprinted with homeopathic

frequency. I rotated these two tincture.

I just start Ezov (hyssop - a cleansing herb) myself to help with emotional

balance and dream recall to support the " recall healing " protocol Gilbert Renaud

spoke about at last LIA conference. Ezov is quantum physically imprinted to

help releasing emotional toxins.

Dr. LC on Ezov:

http://www.youtube.com/user/pepeicaza#p/u/21/dzBnN3Q7270

One caveat though: Excessive use of hyssop has been associated with causing

seizures and should be avoided by people prone to seizure.

Yes. Although he is not currently on it. It does help with the symptoms, but

it never eliminated it. Perhaps we just never did enough? For us, OLE flares a

ton of yeast.

We have been using magnesium and melatonin long term to get to sleep. His most

recent bartonella test was through Specialty Labs -- a true CDC positive. We

are giving him cipro and septra for bartonella and augmentin for strep. I plan

to add back Zhang's HH, but not until behaviors are more under control.

I was watching him in the middle of the night last night and what is happening

is that his brain is swelling. He is constantly pressing the front of his head

and trying to stand on his head. I gave him ibuprofen and that helped. I am

sure he is flaring bartonella antibodies.

Tomorrow, I will try resveratrol. In the past that seemed to neutralize

symptoms associated with bartonella antibodies. We will see how that goes.

OLE doesn't seem to flare yeast for us. We do take a lot. The other thing ( not

RX) that helped with PANDAs for our guy was a product blend produced by

nutrabiotic ( get through WF) called " defense plus " GSE, astralagus, echinachea,

mushrooms and a few other things I can't recall at moment. It's a big pill so I

smash it and put in apricot applesauce to hide taste.

Caryn,I'm surprised that cipro was prescribed for your son. Wiki says, "Fluoroquinolones are not licensed by the U.S. FDA for use in children due to the risk of fatalities as well as permanent injury to the musculoskeletal system, with two exceptions. Ciprofloxacin is being licensed for the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections and pyelonephritis due to Escherichia coli, and inhalational anthrax (postexposure), and levofloxacin was recently licensed for the treatment of inhalational anthrax (postexposure). However, the fluoroquinolones are licensed to treat lower respiratory infections in

children with cystic fibrosis in the UK."Did he first try rifampin for bartonella? My son has been on it (along with omnicef and zith/biaxin) for almost 4 months with no positive changes. All strep and anti-neuronal tests were negative, but his CAM Kinase II score was 142. I gave him knotweed/resveratrol for a couple of weeks, but like everything else it did nothing.Knock on wood, we've never had any major sleep issues. That's been the one positive manifestation of his condition. I hope you get your son's insomnia under control. From: Caryn_Reid

Hi , Thanks. I do know that cipro is not commonly used for children.

In low doses, it is a medication our LLMD is comfortable with as long as we

watch out for tendonitis, which he feels is the only real risk.

My son has a cam kinase II of 164. Our LLMD thinks it is from bartonella. I

will let you know if we learn anything from this.
