My son who just started with GABA and Melatonin for his aggressive behaviors has shown greater sensitivity to light, sound-and touch. This has made him irritable and quick to anger. Anyone observe this in their kids? School has sent home early 4 times this week. He has been taking Zithromax once a week for a half year to treat PANDAS and had a few episodes of yeast flare-up judged from his seemingly uncontrollable laughter on some days. Here is his test result:- Candida Antigen Negative (reference: negative)- Candida Antibodies IgG <30 (reference: 0 - 29)- Candida Antibodies IgM <10 (reference: 0 - 9)- Candida Antibodies IgA 29 High (reference: 0 - 9)What puzzles me is that while no Candida Antigen is detected, he is high in Candida antibodies IgA. Since both IgG and IgM are within the reference range, his elevated IgA might just indicate a more superficial Candida infection, and elevated IgA alone cannot be used to suggest systemic candidiasis, yes? Elevated IgA might till reflect yeast infection in mucosal membrane. In this case, will you treat with pharmaceutical drugs such as Nystatin, Diflucan, or with probiotics and enzymes, and/or rotation of natural anti-fungals such as caprylic acid, pau d'arco, oregano oil, garlic...? What probiotics products can effectively treat yeast infections? My son can not tolerate Saccharomyces boulardii. I concern that anti-fungal drugs are hard on the liver. Has anyone had a good result from using ThreeLac? Thanks for any advice or comments. Limin

We couldn't tolerate Gaba here either. I can't say it caused the senesitivities that you mention but it caused behaviors that were not good.

Candida antigen/ antibody panel

I recently tested my son for a Candida Antigen/ Antibody Panel (LabCorp). He has been taking Zithromax once a week for a half year to treat PANDAS and had a few episodes of yeast flare-up judged from his seemingly uncontrollable laughter on some days. Here is his test result:

- Candida Antigen Negative (reference: negative)

- Candida Antibodies IgG <30 (reference: 0 - 29)

- Candida Antibodies IgM <10 (reference: 0 - 9)

- Candida Antibodies IgA 29 High (reference: 0 - 9)

What puzzles me is that while no Candida Antigen is detected, he is high in Candida antibodies IgA. Since both IgG and IgM are within the reference range, his elevated IgA might just indicate a more superficial Candida infection, and elevated IgA alone cannot be used to suggest systemic candidiasis, yes? Elevated IgA might till reflect yeast infection in mucosal membrane. I have never heard of that response to Mellatonin. I have seen that response

often to GABA. GABA is difficult to do. It is known that children with autism

often have GABA issues, but supplementing it doesn't seem to work well. Some do

respond, but there are a lot of different GABA formulas, so it may depend upon

which formula and what other supplements he is on. It appears via posts and

experience, that mostly the GABA formulas that seem to help the body make GABA

fair better. I would research GABA via posts and such and across forums and

also look at several websites with reports about it to learn more. It is tricky

to get it to work correctly.

Love and prayers,

Heidi N

that is interesting... I just started my son on gaba, been sprinkling a little

bit on his tongue, I just increased it from once a day to three times and I

didnt make this connection but his sensory sensativity just went way up also...

maybe decrease the amount and go way slower?

I am slowly showing signs of calmness in my son after adding the morning dose. By the afternoon it was wearing off and looks like he needed more but I did not give. Gave the usual bedtime dose. Tomorrow I will add an afternoon dose to bring it to a total of 750mg which was recommended by doc. Hope this is the magic dose. Good luck to all of us who are desperately looking for a cure to this nasty disease. God save our children.
