Guest guest
Luba, 500 mg 3 times per day seems to me little high, but of course I am not an expert and I might be wrong. There is a yahoo group following the NIDS protocol by Dr. Goldberg (the doctor who started the whole anti-viral approach with Valtrex) and I haven't seen so high dosages for this weight, usually if the child doesn't respond to Valtrex for 2-3 months the doctor recommends changing the anti-viral. In our case the dose of 250mg 3 times per day is for 37 pounds and we are consulting with Dr. K. He said we should stay on this dosage for 6 months, not sure if we will go up with the dosage after that, I guess depends on how my son is responding. Hope this helps somehow, Krassi > > Krassi, or anyone, who had experience w/ Valtrex, > > Our son is 46 lb. I started Valtrex 6 weeks ago 250 mg x 3. now he is on 375 mg (1/2 tab+1/4 tab) x 3.my plan is to keep him on Valtrex at least for 6 months.I am going to increase the dosage for him -500mg x 3 eventually. He had rash last week...
