Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) is a peptide hormone containing 28 amino

acid residues and is produced in many areas of the human body including the gut,

pancreas, and suprachiasmatic nuclei of the hypothalamus in the brain. VIP acts

as hormones, neurotransmitters, immune modulators and neurotrophes in the body.

Dr. RS recently started recommending low dose of VIP in the form of nasal spray

for treating systemic inflammation response syndrome. In the gut, VIP

stimulates pancreatic bicarbonates secretion. In the brain, VIP plays a key

role in communication between individual brain cells.
