Guest guest
She needs a minimum of 30 days on an antibiotic. Get an Lyme literat MD Subject: Bull's eye rashTo: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Date: Friday, April 22, 2011, 5:55 PM My 6 yr old daughter has a bull’s eye rash on her leg. It started a few days ago but only looked like an allergic reaction at the time. Since then, it has changed form and is visibly a bull’s eye. Today , she was given Ceftin 12ml 2x daily for 14 days and she is on Amoxicillin 5ml 3xdaily for another week because of a prior sore throat. Both Rxs are oral meds. Can anyone tell me if this is sufficient to treat early stage LD?
Guest guest
The prescriptions probably should be extended for an additional 2-4 weeks. 14 days would probably be sufficient as a prophylactic, but not with a bull’s eye rash, at least in my opinion. Guest guest
Thank you. I have sent the information to Dr. Ben Boucher of Cape Breton. He is very knowledgeable re LD and I hope we have gotten it soon enough. I thought IV abx was the treatment of choice for early stage LD? Guest guest
Also know that you can have a bulls eye rash, after many years of exposure, and take antbx's and then a rash appears. I had one on my neck this week, after being on Zithro for 3 weeks. > > The prescriptions probably should be extended for an additional 2-4 weeks. > 14 days would probably be sufficient as a prophylactic, but not with a > bull's eye rash, at least in my opinion. > > > > Anne M., BSN, MSN/IH, RN > > mcfighter@... > > > > From: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism > [mailto:BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism ] On Behalf Of > and Freeman > Sent: Friday, April 22, 2011 2:55 PM > To: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism > Subject: Bull's eye rash > > > > > > My 6 yr old daughter has a bull's eye rash on her leg. Guest guest
I would ask your DAN or NIDS dr or whatever you have to treat with omnicef or zithromax until you can get her to a LLMD. After having LD for over twenty years, I developed a bullseye rash (actually 6) after taking LDM100. So, unless you saw the tick, it is possile this is not a new infection, rather an immune system awakening. Caryn > > My 6 yr old daughter has a bull's eye rash on her leg. Guest guest
If this is the first exposure to Lyme Disease, please please please make sure you get enough antibiotics to successfully treat. I have seen many posts say that they treated for a few weeks with antibiotics, thought they were fine, then months later started getting the chronic symptoms. They can be very disabling and last your entire life. Thus, avoid this battle and seek out treatment now. You will save so much heartbreak, money, and time if you spend the extra time and money now.
