Guest guest
I have been told 1mg 1/2 hour before bedtime is where to start. I have only found 3 mg tablets so I broke them in half, which would have been a 1.5 mg dose. It is important to note there are two types of melatonin - tablets which are standard release and capsules which contain time release. I found the sublingual tablets worked best for us. We used it for about 3 months to restore sleep patterns and now we don't have to give melatonin anymore. You also need to make sure the bedroom is completely dark - no night light or light from an alarm clock, etcHow much melatonin is safe to give? Guest guest
Nutramedix has a liquid melatonin product that is put under the tongue. 5 drops = 0.5 mg, so it would be easy to titrate the dose to what you need, especially in a sensitive child. Guest guest
Hello My son is 17 yrs old 130lbs. I give time released melatonin 2.5mg plus regular melatonin 2mg total of 4.5mg in the morning to support him through school where all the aggression erupts. Then when he comes home I will give 2mg regular melatonin in afternoon and another 2mg reg melatonin at bedtime. In addition I give L Theanine with GABA in he morning, plus 250 Gaba afternoon and 250 Gaba at night. My doc has ordered expanded OAT test to check for amino acid levels and oxalates. There is so much info to filter and digest and quite overwhelming. I begin to wonder why we pay our doctors big bucks and then rely on our support group for the REAL answers.
