HiI believe the fact that u r treating your son in such young age gives you an advantage. You don't mention what you are doing for a dietary approach or whether you are doing something else to help him heal. From what l have seen, the chances of getting him back in track after treating the infection, are pretty high, you have a whole bunch of possibilities for such a young child both medical and therapeutical. On the physical side, l can only suggest you add probiotics/prebiotics to your daily routine asap, this will help you deal w the side effects antibiotics have on the GI tract and prevent further complications like a yeast flare due to imbalance of his intestinal flora. I am sure u will get a lot of answers here, just wanted to share this tip w you. There is a world of neuro-plasticity ahead of you, so have faith your child will be allright!IsaEnviado desde mi oficina móvil BlackBerry® de TelcelSender: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Date: Sun, 8 May 2011 17:47:35 -0700 (PDT)To: <BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism >ReplyTo: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Subject: My son's Lyme and Autism I'm new to this site so bear with me. My 1.5 year old son was diagnosed with Lyme and has been taking antibiotics for 3 months. He also has many autisitc like symptoms, although his eye contact is good. He has developmental delays and has started exhibiting more and more repetetive behaviors, i.e. walking back and forth, spinning, etc.Question - could his Lyme be causing all of these symptoms? Can he eventually be cured of this, or has the damage been done? I know it's a general question, but just seeing what everyone's expereince and advice is...

Thank you for you encouraging words. We haven't done anything dietary yet, but we may. He is taking a probiotic and antibiotics as well.

My son is 4 1/2 and we have been at bio-med since he was 11 months old and lyme

since he was 18 months old. He was extremely autistic and globally delayed. He

had every symptom in the book, plus others.

He is not recovered from autism. However, he has lost half of his symptoms

completely. The symptoms he still has are severe, as were all of his other

issues before they went away. Many symptoms just disappeared within days of

beginning a medicine or supplement.

Those who know me and my son's history know that we have used lots of

antibiotics and even high doses of many things. However, if your child does not

seem sick, in pain, completely off balance, cannot sleep without antibiotics, I

don't think that they are the best way to go. My son was dying without them.

He does well on antibiotics. But, I feel that treating on antibiotics have made

worms, parasites and viruses that we did not even know that he had worse.

Herbs are great. I would go with broad spectrum herbs. But, if your child

needs to be on antibiotics, I would consider using herbs in conjunction with

your treatment program.

Our best strategy is to start super, super, low -- lower than anyone is using

and increase slowly and maintaining dose until I see no more die off.

It is so hard to know how to treat things when you are just learning. Little

kids can be so hard to read. It is important to make a list of what issues that

your want to treat and ask parents how to treat those.

Thanks Caryn. Your words were very helpful. We are lost in this wilderness and just looking for help finding our way.

Some years ago when I was looking for the cause of autism, what I found

were causes, emphasis on the plural. I have seen reports that children

only treated for Lyme and coinfections (from ticks also), did become

recovered. But, it still took a while. I have also heard of adults who

got Lyme and coinfections who lost speech and all, similar to what we

see in autism. But, it appears that many still also need treatments for

toxins, viruses, etc. It is unknown what came first: Lyme causing one

to stockpile other pathogens and toxins, or toxins, causing one to

stockpile pathogens. And frankly, maybe they all just came. People

still die of ammonia even though they were on high doses of antibiotics

because their immune systems are weakened which is a good example on how

important it is to boost immunity and get the body working well in order

to conquer tricky infections like Lyme. Sadly, what we are doing is

just reducing Lyme, Bartonella, Strep, etc. to low enough levels for the

body's own immune system to keep it in check. So, we still must make

steps to be healthy throughout our lives. The reports I see are that

most can lose most symptoms, enough to fit in and be generally

indistinguishable. But, relapse rates are high if all treatments are

stopped, especially if the person eats whatever and does whatever

without concern for health. I had many doubts on our recovery road,

and still I have fears. These journeys require faith and effort. It's

a lot of work, but being healthy is so much more easy than being sick.

Love and prayers,

Heidi N

Question - could his Lyme be causing all of these symptoms? Can he

eventually be

cured of this, or has the damage been done? I know it's a general

question, but
