I know some people will hate me for saying this but you may have to consider a

stronger med until you can get to the bottom of her immune problems as a stopgap

measure so you can reduce the suffering of your family and child who are in

crisis. Trust me I have been there with what you are describing. It will take

time to restore her immune and behavioral health and you need to buy some time.

Best wishes

Sara

Valerian is phenolic. Maybe that is causing problems.

Thank you for your input . I meant to ask you how much is too much valerian - bottle says 24 drops dose = 1000mg given 1- 3x daily. I gave him half dose last night and he kept on waking up but not aggressing. His second half dose was this morning and he aggressed. I then gave him Sonne #7 to detox at noon. At 3PM my husband suggested to try it again and we did. He is less anxious but with lots of sensory issues. I would hold off on valerian for now and try 5HTP at bedtime 50mg. Is that a good dose? Thank you very much for being patient with me and for taking the time to post even on mother's day. God bless you and everyone who have been so kind to come to our rescue. There are several out there who are watching the posts. Let's all hang in there guys as the support in this group is enormous. Fransel

Hi Fransel,

Sorry to hear about your Mother's Day.

Did you up the dose from the first day? If he is getting too much it can produce the opposite result. You may want to try less Valerian or discontinue the Valerian and go with the 5HTP and see how that works. If it were my choice I would go with the 5 HTP since that is what gets you the serotonin.

Keep me posted.

Dear Kim I am crying while reading your post. Don't take the risperidal as it will create greater anxiety and increased violence in your child. I went through hell this morning as my son decided to ruin mother's day for the family. He tore up the card and threw objects in his room - tore magazines and ate the paper. He was so aggressive. The trigger may be a new mood supplement (valerian leaf extract) which is a natural valium. This morning was the third dose and it looks like it is not working. My husband thinks we should give it a second chance.I just gave him Sonne #7 detox for the first time. He is alone in his room now. We are staying away from him until it is safe. It's a wait and see.

Hi all;Fransel, I empathize with what you are going through! My daughter is also very aggressive and has extreme sound sensitivity as well. We are in crisis with her again currently as the aggression has increased and she is throwing furniture and anything she can get her hands on AT us... she used to just throw stuff at the walls :( I am also trying to figure out how to calm her down ASAP as the whole family has to walk on eggshells not to set her off. I have two other children and they can't talk, or even be in her sight when she's around. I thank all the people who have posted such wonderful helpful information. We too are trying to avoid the use of anti-psychotics but everyone (including 2 DAN doctors) is recommending I put my daughter on risperidol immediately. We have been old school hard core biomed for 8 years so this is very difficult for me to accept. We've tried seemingly everything. She is also starting to urinate on the furniture again, something she has not done in a year. She uses her bedroom as a toilet each morning, and sometimes night as she withholds urine/feces and unloads on her bed, floor, etc - gets violent when we try to put her on the toilet and won't go... however she has been messing in her bedroom for years (this is not new). Sorry for unloading here - we are going through hell right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you Fransel!Kim

Thanks for pointing that out about valerian being phenolic. I've held off and trying 5HTP this morning.FranselFrom: klwadler@...Sender: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Date: Mon, 9 May 2011 08:35:56 -0400 (EDT)To: <BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism >ReplyTo: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Subject: Re: Valerian and 5HYP Valerian is phenolic.
