Guest guest
@ Lin:-) jazakallah khair for your comments Lin. That is very kind of you. I really appreciate it:-) @ Marteen:-) hehehe @ your 1st and 2nd thought:-) I really wanted to video tape it, because i wanted to send it to my dad (who is a longtime depression suffrer & my younger brother, who was recently diagnosed with MS) but since this was my first time, at someone's house , i was nervous becoz i wasn't sure exactly what would be captured in that video tape, whether it was me lecturing, or me having a panic attack;-), also the other reason, being the first time, the muslim sisters would open up in between the lecture (which did happen) and they would not want that to be videotaped. BUT, i plan on doing a continuation, and that will be at our community center/mosque, and it will be larger scale, and i am hoping that i can videotape that and let the sisters know the question answer session can be in the end, so they choose if they wannna speak up, or just pass on a note to me. As far as blog:-), i wish i could marteen. There's sooooo much i wish i could do, but i have little kids, plus my husband doesn't like me spending time away from him and kids when he is home. So basically when he's not, i am running around my littele kids, when he's home, i am running around all 3 of them:-). I see this group and all these members with such incredible knowledge of ACT, and sooo many books they have read and are so articulate in their speech, masha'allah it's inspiring, and i keep wishing to myself ,ya allah, if only i had the time to sit down and finish reading just 1 book. sorry marteen i digress what i do have plans on doing is sometime in the future, post on youtube. my husband is extremely supportive, alhamdulillah, but he comes from a conservative family (raised in the middle east), and i have to make sure i don't offend my inlaws and their family when i do somthing like this. If i can start with trying to make people realize mental suffering is not abnormal, then i can slowly get my way through and start opening up to a larger community. My husband is affiliated with all the mainstream major american- muslim organizations in the US, so it is comparitively easier for me to get a chance to reach out to the muslim community here. In Nov. there is an event (mixed gathering, male/female) here with 2 Muslim licensed MFT's, and my husband said i could get a chance to speak there as well. The audience will not be 20, it could be anywhere between 100 to 400, i really want to, as my purpose is to reach out and not to 'educate', but i can't deny that makes me extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemely nervous too:-) jazakallah khair for your email marteen wasalaam:-) > > > > Thank you for sharing the outcome.
