Dear group,

As usual when difficult questions are going through my mind I ask for help

here, so here is my latest dilemma:

We had our appointment with Dr. K last week and he advised to do tonsillectomy

ASAP for my son, because he said PANDAS is severely effecting his brain and

blocking his progress. He still prescribed Azithromycin once per week for the

next 6 months to an year, but he said no matter what we should do tonsillectomy.

The confusing part for me is that we have done some blood testing in the past

for strep, but it came back normal. However I know it depends which labs you use

and who and how interpret the results, so this time we are going to do blood

test specifically for PANDAS. However my concern is – is it possible that you

get negative results for PANDAS and you may still have it?

My son has OCD which lately is worse (after treating for parasites, not sure

what is the relationship if any).

So my big question is – how many of you have tried already the tonsillectomy

and seen good results? Did anybody see improvements in speech and OCD?

Dr. K said that all of his patients have improved after tonsillectomy.

I did search for old messages here but found only 1 message from one mom who

said that did the tonsillectomy for her child and that he improved after that.

Has anybody regressed after that or indeed there are only positives?

Also, how difficult it is to find EENT doctor who would agree to do this here in

CA? Does anybody have any recommendations for such doctor?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Krassi
