It depends on the level. Glutamate is needed for the synthesis of glutathione, and is important for learning and memory. However, too much glutamate is excitotoxic. Too much glutamate can also signal calcium influx into neuron cells to induce early (pre-matured) cell death.LiminIs glutamate bad? I googled this but could not decipher.
