Guest guest
I am in an ACT therapy group but we rarely ever discuss the application of the ACT techniques.I enjoy the group as it is mature but very often I feel as if I am the only one who wishes to discuss emotions and thoughts instead of just telling eventful stories. I often leave the meetings feeling very anxious. Well, it was uncomfortable having a bad attack in front of others, but since it was an anxiety group, I did not think I would be judged. Most members of our group have had panic attacks, so they would not think anything was wrong with me for having one. As much as I wanted to seem calm and in control when facilitating the meeting, that did not happen, and I have to accept that. Perhaps there's a lesson in that. ~ lisa That's awesome ...great that you were able to bear it and ride though it's waves... Must have been pretty self-empowering to know that you could handle it...may I ask how it was for you to have a panic attack in front of others? A core fear I experience, is allowing people to see me like that...fear that they will judge me, and think something is wrong with me.. > > Hi all, > > I introduced ACT to my anxiety disorders support group today. Guest guest
Fabulous that you were able to do this. It is so interesting how different the experience of panic vs. the experience of depression can seem on the surface - the latter is more my issue (along with some non-panic anxiety). And yet I think there are connections in many ways. Hoping I can emulate your success in my own realm. - R. > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > I introduced ACT to my anxiety disorders support group today. Guest guest
Since our support group meeting yesterday afternoon, I've been getting so much positive feedback from other members about my riding out the panic attack in their company. It has been so rewarding, and I'm grateful for having had the experience, difficult as it was. ~ lisa Fabulous that you were able to do this.
