If you have been seeing good results with 5 HTP twice a day you may want to keep with that schedule.  You can give the 5 HTP alone. Should be interesting to see the test results. When will you have them?By the way . I can give 5HTP 100mg alone right? He seems to be tolerating the 50mg given 2x in the day but tomorrow I will start him on 100mg in the morning once daily. Keeping fingers crossed but excited to see if this is my golden ticket in order to avoid behavior meds. Just so you know, 5HTP and Prozac are considered very similar, and I know docs who will prescribe generic prozac instead of the 5HTP because its much cheaper....so in effect, you are giving behavior meds if you are doing high doses of 5HTP. Just thought you should know........

That said, my son did fine with 5HTP at bedtime to help with sleep, but did not fare well with Prozac a few years later to help with anxiety......

Peri What is a high dosage for 5HTP? My son is 18yrs @ 130lbs. I am using it as a daytime mood stabilizer not so much for sleep.
