Guest guest
Hi Jody -- I believe nortriptyline is a tricyclic med which usually takes several weeks to kick in with regard to pain relief -- so sounds like you either had a negative reaction to the med or a coincidence that your pain levels increased at the same time you started taking this med? I take amitriptiline at a low dose which is a similar med. Dee To: tetheredspinalcord From: jfjinca@... Date: Thu, 10 Feb 2011 13:55:29 -0800 Subject: Nortriptyline Hi all, After 4 days on the medication my pain had increased a LOT. I went to the Pain Clinic reporting a 7 on the pain scale. Last night, I'd say it was a 15. It felt like my nerves, from my tailbone down to my toes (both legs), was electrified. Has anyone else had that experience? After 36 hours off the med, my pain is back down to a 7. It now (as before) feels like a tightness at my tailbone and down my right leg only. Another thing, I had loss of bladder control when I took 150mg of Lyrica but was wondering if taking Detrol would counteract it. Any ideas? Thanks! Guest guest
, I've alway been sensitive to meds for some reason. I don't know why a pain med would make it worse but this stuff was BAD. This is the 2nd med that made it worse, which meant it was doing something on my nerves but not what I wanted. So far Lyrica is the best option if I could just find a way to avoid the bladder problems. Jodi >Oh no! Sorry to hear you are having such trouble with meds, I understand all too >well which is why I dont take any. I am very curious about what it is about the >meds that actually increases our pain sometimes. Very very strange. I can >understand not helping or helping, other side effects but actually increasing >the pain? Several of us have had this happen with one med or another...just >amazing...any biochemists in the group? ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Now that's room service!
