Valtrex experience

Hello all,

I was wondering if those of you who have used Valtrex can give me some opinions

of what might be happening with my son.

We started giving him Valtrex 250mg/3 times per day as per beginning of April

this year (he also takes Diflucan twice per day). After a month on this dosage

we were supposed to lower the dosage to 250mg only twice per day.

However, 3 weeks or so after starting Valtrex my son had a rash on his back (as

big as coin and very red) and at the same time he started being more winy,

sometimes he takes my hands and puts them on his head, which makes me think he

has a headache (he is non-verbal, 5 years old, 37 pounds). So I thought that

probably we started having die-off after 3 weeks on Valtrex and I was hoping

that after week or 2 the die-off will be over and we will start seeing the gains

that everybody is talking about. However, we are already 6 weeks into Valtrex

(and little more than 3 weeks since supposedly the die-off started) and my son

started getting again with more OCD (he is also on the Azithromycin 500mg once

per week) and his eye contact is worse. Only few weeks ago he had this perfect

eye contact, but now I have the feeling that when he looks at me he sees

through me but not really me

So since I think we are going through die-off I haven't lowered the dosage to

twice per day, but keep still 3 times per day, because I don't want this virus

to replicate and not get rid of it completely. Am I right with that? I have my

phone consult with our doctor next week and I am also wondering what she is

going to say.

The problem is that I am getting only more and more confused why this die-off is

still going on, because when I read on the yahoo boards most people say they had

die-off only for 1-2 weeks. Is it possible to have die-off for 3 weeks and even

more, or simply Valtrex is not the right anti-viral for my son?
