Fransel, Rice porridge or congee is very very healing to the intestines and is also used in chinese medicine as a way to strengthen the digestive system. Its a nourishing food. and coating. easy to eat. You make one part rice to 6 parts water. You can cook for several hours and the longer you cook the better the heling properties. You can also make with chicken broth. Add ginger and maybe green onion. or a egg. It is used in oriental medicine as most a recoup from the cold and flu. if i can find the article on it, i will post it. Nuts are very hard on the digestive system. when you are detoxifying, it can be alot of fat to deal with that the body has to break down. soft veggies, in season local and organic, moderate protein and broths, all of this helps to rebuild. goodluck,Misty Rice - food for yeast? Is it ok to give rice crackers? I am looking for breakfast breads to replace nut breads. We are SCD and avoiding grains due to yeast. Is it ok to go back to rice?I'd love to drop the nuts!Sent from my iPad Bethany, I almost was going to post that it's most likely undigested food and it might be as most worms we deal with are not visible to the naked eye--i have taped up so much funk and sent it off to labs, EAV testing and outside of a live round worm...they all came back as undigested food fragments. Guest guest
Fransel, Each person has to navigate for themselves. It took me a long time to realize my Udis rice bread (which i love in the am) was really contributing to my fungalcondition. It is bestnot to eat bread period while having yeast but maybe, but maybe you can make some, or perhaps find a yeast free kind. also, bread dosnt have that much nutrition. imho, i think its best to give a whole grain if you are to give a carbohydrate. this must be difficult for children. Yeasted breads, nuts, seeds, high fats can all contribute to yeast. Good luck,Misty Rice - food for yeast? Is it ok to give rice crackers? I am looking for breakfast breads to replace nut breads. Guest guest
Fransel. SCD does not allow rice. Although a lot of people will eventually look to " liberalize " the diet, once on it for a while, with rice. Some of the other posts here talk about broths and healing foods, all good things to restore the gut. But I would be careful about rice in any form right now if your son is having such serious issues. I would read the book Gut and Psychology Sybdrome by Dr. Natasha -McBride. It is based on SCD but slightly different in some minor ways. It expands the issue of gut healing in Elaine Gotchall's Book, Selected Carbohydrate Diet. It focuses a lot of attention on the healing foods like broths and juices, and explains the why's. Very helpful book. My daughter had such serious issues like your son in the past that I had to hospitilize her. SCD/GAPS was one of the best things we have done for her....
