Sure, Joan, here's mine...for breakfast I generally have 2 eggs with about

3/4 oz. italian salami cubed, panfried and drained to get rid of extra

fat...scrambled together with about 3/4 oz. of cream cheese (not trying to

lose weight so if you are you might want to leave this out)...lowcarb toast

or lowcarb half bagel, tea. On alternate days I have lowcarb Keto Cereal

(available from Life Services online) or lowcarb protein drink. Lunch these

days is two or three slices deli meat, a slice of cheese, a few olives, a few

pork rinds, about 16 grams almonds. Maybe a can of beef or chicken broth.

Maybe canned sardines instead of deli meat. Dinner is 4-6 oz. of meat,

chicken, fish, a veggie such as spinach, broccoli, sauerkraut, cabbage. I try

to stay away from root veggies (carrots, etc.) as they're higher carb but I

do have, as my " starch substitute " a measured amount of steamed-and-smashed

celery root (which is a dead ringer for mashed potatos) extended with lots of

lowcarb cooked mushrooms, or else canned soybeans mixed with cooked mushrooms

and lowcarb barbecue sauce. I also have a Very Large Green Salad with avocado

only, and since I like something sweet at the end, a dish of ricotta cheese

with cinnamon-sugar (made with Equal), browned blanched almonds and maybe

some strawberries or raspberries. I dose all meals with insulin matched to

carbs in meal but as a type 1 my insulin requirements are pretty low on this

regime -- always under 30 units a day, including basal dose of U. Vicki

Have you tried the low carb pasta? When smothered with sauce it is almost

like the real thing. Gabe will eat it. And he is very discerning in his low

carb choices.

With or without cheating? *G*

Breakfast - hunk of cheddar, or 2% cottage cheese with some almond pieces, or

sometimes low fat yogurt (I have dawn phenomenon so I don't eat much)

Lunch - soup, or egg salad, or can of salmon or tuna (actually I can't stand the

thought of tuna anymore), or salad with some protein such as cheese or egg or

ham

added

Dinner - meat such as steak, hamburger with salsa, pork chops, whatever is in

the

freezer... big salad, or steamed veggies such as cauliflower or broccoli, or

spaghetti squash, sometimes I have an extra thick meaty spaghetti sauce without

pasta (the kid gets the pasta), but I have to dose extra insulin for the tomato.

This is typical of a good day for me. We won't get into those bad days

*blushing*

I haven't seen low carb pasta in any of the stores around here, health

stores or regular. I've seen rice pasta, and gluten free (I think I have

anyway), but not low carb per se. To be honest here, I haven't visited

the health store in a number of months, and maybe I'll check them out

again. I know there have been a number of sites posted to order online,

but generally speaking I find that it is expensive with the Canadian

exchange and shipping. And talking about product availability... even

though Splenda has been available here for years, the products that you

guys are now seeing on your shelves made with splenda are still not

available here, in any way, shape or form. Even some aspertame products

are seeming to become less and less, except for the soft drinks of

course. They seemed to have even discontinued Neo Citran (hot lemon

drink for colds) with aspertame. Just my morning rant here. :)

That is really sad Susie. I hope she is feeling better soon.

Dear ,

Thank you so much for you thoughts ... and thanks to all in this group that

care so much and help sustain each other. I feel overwhelmed by all the

illness in my family and Rob's family. I'm taking a " mental day off, "

lifting weights, playing old music by the Kingston Trio, the Limeliters,

Irish groups, and just trying to let go emotionally of things/people that I

have no control over.

Oops ... ended that paragraph with yet another preposition ... " This is a

situation up with which I will not put! " Hahahahaha ...

Hugs,

Susie

I love Rob so much because he understands ... :o) I work me arse off

around here most days, but right now I've got my own sisters, plus Rob's

sisters - AND IF I MAY SAY SO, MY OTHER SISTER TERI ROBERT THE MODERATOR OF

THIS GROUP - that are not facing up to health problems. It still freaks me

out that I can exchange two e-mails with a *total stranger* and they TOTALLY

GET IT. How come the people closest to me don't " get it " ??? Rob, my True

Love, " gets it. " He thanks me every day for saving his life. And others

realize there is a pathway to better life. That's what sustains me. But

sometimes I realize I need to shut my brain off and find some other place

inside to keep me going. For both me and Rob, it's music. I'm spending the

whole day playing stuff from a half-century ago, plus lifting as much

weights as I can, just trying to burn up the frustration. And I'm crying a

lot.

Dear Susie,

I'm so sorry about the problems in your family. Cheer up though, it could

be worse. I lost 85% of my heart function but with medication and being

very careful I have built back up from 15% to 30% of my heart function. I

really can't tell you how this happened but according to my echocardiogram

it has. I now have some blockage that I didn't have previously but maybe

that will correct itself also. I'm still " alive and kicking " (not very high

but that's O.K.) I've been staying busy, crocheting and playing the piano

and going everywhere I can at every opportunity I get. I just try not to

get out in the bad weather. Everything has started to bud out again and my

allergies are giving me a fit so I'm staying in right now but I have learned

to take one day at a time just like in that song. I'm grateful for every

day that I have. I feel like each day is an extension on my life that God

has given me and I actually am feeling better every day. You will all be in

my prayers.

Love you,

Tootie

And I love you, " Bad Tootie " ... :o) You give all of us courage. If we can

follow your example, who knows what miracles we can accomplish? About five

years ago, it seemed I was dying - yet here I am today, feeling pretty

darned good!

I'm thankful you are in our group. You are living proof of what is possible.

I don't have good reasons for gettin' down, but I know that music brings me

back. Rob and I both love to dance, and we love music. Right now, I'm

listening to Ry Cooder's " Paradise & Lunch " (Tamp 'Em Up Solid, Tattler,

Married Man's A Fool, Jesus On the Mainline, It's All Over Now, etc.)

I don't have real good ideas about managing diabetes. But I have some pretty

good ideas about dealing with depression. Look inside yourself and figure

out what the very most important, comforting thing is to you, and forget

everything else and go for that when you're feeling vulnerable. I sing along

.... I dance along ... Whatever works! :o)

Ry Cooder doesn't " play slide guitar " ... he makes love to it. Watch him

play sometime ... you'll wish you were the guitar ... hmmmm ....

Susie :ox
