May I suggest next time you have a sandwich try open faced! You could even

make a great melted cheese sandiwich...toast one slice of the bread, put the

cheese on and either stick it under the broiler or microwave it for a few

seconds. Or ...even better...use the lowcarb tortillas instead of

bread...Vicki

Patsy, the bs probably from my own experience would have gone up over night,

with or with out the bread. (for me the rise from the bread probably would

have come back to normal before the am reading)

There are complex reasons, but basically in a nut shell its because the liver

gets nervous when you dont eat carbs/glucose, and it puts out some glucose by

breaking down proteins to form it, this is what causes the higher am " dawn

effect "

WTG for a while, why don't you post the test results, and what you ate,

testing pre eating, adn 2 hrs after eating, for us to see, and we'll give you

suggestions and feedback, i promise to be nice :)

Bread does that to me. I have some pepperidge farm whole oats at 11 grams.

One slice really does me in. I miss bread.

>>

and all, if you have a bread machine, Life Services makes a lowcarb

bread mix...if you slice it very thin (they give the weight in grams) it's

only five carbs per slice. It comes in three " flavors " - sourdough french,

cinnamon raisin and..gosh, I forgot the third. But they're online at

www.lifeservices.com

Also, the lowcarb tortillas make an acceptable substitute, also available

online.

Patsy and

Are you both just new to this?? If so it will take some time....up to 3

months for me...to see some of the dramatic results. Your body has been used

to a higher sugar and is going to fight you when you lower it. I used to

feel like I was going to faint at 155!! Used to make me so mad....I would

mutter to myself... " If you are that hungry...take something off the left

hip " . Eventually these feelings went away for me..I get hungry when I am

around 100...don't feel bad unless I am below 60.

As for the sore fingers....that gets better also. Once i found what foods i

could safely eat I would have no testing days and just ate what i knew would

not make me go high.

Part of the loss of appetite from what I understand is the metabolic changes

going on as your body repairs itself as best it can. Please be

encouraged....it does get better and easier...

I don't know about that....I figure if I am really hungry I can eat

anything...If I am not tempted by food I can eat then I must not be really

hungry. I frequently skip meals if I am in that state of mind.

I was dx 2/16/01 but have only been low carbing for about 2 months. I just

treated myself to whipped cream and raspberries for breakfast. Will test in

a while to see what it did to me. Breakfast is my hardest meal. I have lost

about 30 lbs doing low carb but I am just getting sick of the foods I am

eating and so I sometimes choose to not eat- which I know is bad for me too.

Hi there,

I do not remember exactly what treatment he did but I think he got

treatment for the sperm allergy and he has gotten better. So he

probably did some sort of desensitization like I am doing.

1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better.Have a nice day everyone.

That's quite all right. At least I am with a wonderful group of people that are in the same boat as I am.

I'm sorry that I couldn't give you any positive information, with this disease it more of enduring.
