I live in California and have not found many brands of sugar free

icecream! Dryers make a good one. I like the double fudge. I think we

will start seeing more sugar free products because the baby bombers are

in their 40's and 50s' and will demand this...:)

Hello,

If there are any diabetics on this list who live in California,

specifically Southern California, I have a question for you.

I really miss having Ice Cream. Is there a No Sugar Ice Cream that any

of

you can recommend?

I'd really like to know the brand and which store I can find it at.

Baby bombers ?? LOL :D (no worries, I do plenty of my own typos .... lol)

Dreyer's is good, Breyer's also had some good flavors but I haven't seen

that brand out here in the east yet.

I also love NSA (no sugar added) Fudgesicles.

Hi Rich--I am a type I diabetic of 28 years. I live in Victorville, CA.

SanBernardino county. Check out Ralph's Grocery stores. They have an ice

cream specifically for diabetics. In fact it is called " Divetic Ice Cream " .

It comes in several flavors my sister in law says. She also says you should

be able to find it in Vons or SuperVons. Otherwise you could always make

your own. There are some really simple to use ice cream makers out there

these days. Well, good luck in your ice cream quest.

I was in Baskin Robbins last week, They didn't have sugar free ice cream

but did have " No sugar Added " Ice Cream. I ordered a small scoop an it

was great. I ate mostly vegetables for dinner so the trade off didn't effect

my BG's much.

We make our own ice cream using fructose (still sugar, but much lower on

the glicimic index and absorbs slowly) and the other ingredients of

eggs, milk, etc. This is a special treat so I eat sparingly from the

container in the freezer and usually combine it with a low carb meal of

fish or beef and a vegie.

Home Made Ice Cream

4 eggs

2 1/2 cups Fructose (or sugar)

7 cups whole milk

3 cups cream

2 1/2 tablespoons vanilla

1/2 teaspoon salt

Beat eggs until light

Add Fructose or sugar gradually

Beat until thick

Add remaining ingredients

Pour into tank of freezer

Fill space between tank and ice cream maker wall with ice (chipped,

crushed or cubes)

Pour in about 2 cups of rock salt (take care to keep the liquid level

below the top of the tank)

Plug in or turn hand crank

Add more ice and salt as needed

Ice cream maker will grind to a halt when ready

Scoop out ice cream into container and place in freezer

Enjoy!
