I grew up in a home of that age and I believe it probably weakened my immune system and contributed to my asthma. I still have trouble when I visit my parents in that same house today. That said, I also agree with Heidi regarding her recommendations completely. I think that you can probably stay in your home, but there are steps you will need to take (as we do in all our homes) to benefit our health. Mold testing and lead testing will be important.. Air purifiers are also important. We have 2 HEPA filters in our house and a good HEPA vacuum and HEPA air filter (3M filtrate) in the furnace as well. You can get a discount on Austin air filter (I love ours!) by visiting the LIA foundation website.take care,To: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Sent: Sat, June 11, 2011 8:12:01 AMSubject: Re: Old Home

To be honest, there are probably gobs of toxins in that old home, but new homes also have gobs of toxins. New homes are made with much more chemicals. So, I say you have toxins no matter. But, many are replacing flooring, putting in water filters, ridding molds, and painting over the old lead paint. Getting the electrical looked at to reduce "dirty electricity" may also be good. Keep in mind that us older folks grew up in those old houses, and we did much better than our kids are doing.

Love and prayers,

Heidi N

We are considering moving for this reason. Does anyone have any information about toxins such as lead dust in the air in old homes?
