Guest guest
Another band I really like is Boards of Canada - it's mostly instrumental and provides a kind of sonic Rorschach canvas on which you can project your own fantasy. Try Dayvan Cowboy and Peacock Trail as an intro. Recommended. Also, there's Cybertribe - music in a similar vein. Listen to Reaching Motherland as an apéritif. See if you like it.Finally, but not least, King Missile's Detachable Penis provides a chuckle, and Alan Parson's Mammagamma is a an interesting audio experience.Regards,Detlef>> Ever since I saw Lucinda in the HBO show Treme recently, I've> become a fan.> > Give her a listen - she's terrific.> > > Regards,> > Detlef> > PS - What music do others on the list like?>
Guest guest
Sorry for the over indulgnece folks, but is nice to have a night off from problems once in a while. Crikey, Detlef, I like electronic music too (usually the wackier the better). Lucinda Willaims sounded good, quite rocky and electric. This is risky as I usually like really weird music (very psychedelic). Guest guest
Beatles, the Who, Barenaked Ladies, Counting Crows, to name a few. I find I can't listen to music with depressing themes any more. I used to like melancholy music but now I'm too sensitive and easily taken down the tubes by sad music. Most new music now comes through my daughter so I'm generally a fan of the latest pop music.BruceEver since I saw Lucinda in the HBO show Treme recently, I've become a fan.Give her a listen - she's terrific.Regards,DetlefPS - What music do others on the list like? Guest guest
It strikes me as interesting that all these bands share the characteristic of having leading members with mood disorders and/or substance abuse problems. That's hardly rare with musicians, I guess. Maybe the reverse is true. I wonder if these musicians are successful because they touch a thread in people that they're able to access thank to their mental struggles. That's a pretty high price to pay, though. I would give up whatever modest talents I have to feel more contentment.Beatles, the Who, Barenaked Ladies, Counting Crows, to name a few.
